I enjoy the morning rain today

Found some coffee at TJ Maxx (american discount store) -- not a big discount but still fun.

Vagyis attól még, hogy trehány vagyok, még működhetne jobban is az anyagmegmaradás törvénye, mint éppen errefelé, vagyis errefelé pláne működnie kellene, mégsem ezt teszi.

So even though I'm clumsy, the law of conservation of matter could still work better than it does here, or rather, it shouldn't work here, but it doesn't.

Genuinely, I’m grateful we have such great choices when it comes to programming languages.

It’s just sad the whole corporate world runs on Java, Python, C++, C#, and JavaScript so I just look in envy at what I could be using

looking at the German public railway system (DB), I always wonder if the stereotypes of timeliness and precision were ever actually true. Surely someone must've figured out by now how off they are? These trains are always late and / or broken.

what an odd summer it must be for mathematicians.

Interesting. Why?

It seems this year is when big budget LLM players overtake independent academic mathematicians, in speed at least. The Jacobian conjecture, a lot of Erdos problems, now even the Navier Stokes millenium problem. Solved due to new model releases, all within this summer.

model releases or internal research by the big AI labs*

So, can we now say that LLMs are able to do things that nobody has done before? Can they extrapolate?

…

in math it can definitely prove statements that havent been proven before. I dont think thats the big thing though since it also writes sentences nobody has ever written before and in software it can write programs that havent been written before. Its just that the speed and scalability that has overtaken human mathematicians and programmers

trying to revive the blogging golden days. recommend some blogs with rss feed about game, movie reviews, and animation. or comic strips, traditional or webcomic.

working on permanent.sh a coding agent for the growing and seemingly permanent underclass of people that are left behind by the unbelievable pace of progress in ai the big labs are fighting over felonybench (exploitbench) and google deepmind ceo left to work on drug discovery

I've avoided social media (except YouTube) all my life, but this looks like it could finally be a better way to do it. Maybe I'll keep a running journal of cool things I'm working on here or weird bugs that I've found. Or just the struggles of coding. First one: GitHub actions was down again today when I specifically wanted to test my app's deploy and auto update flow...

I'm in bed and cannot sleep

exploring, looks cool, writing emacs package for it.

This is what we need.

It was only yesterday that I clicked on a Translate button to read a Japanese post. Today I see a Chinese post with English translation right below. Beautiful stuff.

Frustrated with my phone usage again tonight, I uninstalled several pointless and time-consuming apps. It’s a cycle I repeat every few months. During this cycle, I wasted a lot of time on one of those puzzle-matching games. I'm considering switching to Ubuntu Touch at this point

You look in the corner, you see a guy quietly eating cigarette butts. It's ok. He's dealing with a lot of stress from work. He takes care of his family. Capitalism

Likewise... you look in the corner, you see a guy quietly eating cigarette butts. It's ok. He's dealing with a lot of stress for lack of work, or food, or future. He wants to take care of his family. Communism. We haven’t figured out yet. Maybe we never will.

I finished Rejection by Tony Tulathimutte and now I'm struggling to take any other book seriously. I need a pallet cleanser or something before I can move on
