Can you check again, the post box should not grow now. Safari auto zooms when it’s <16px so now we set it to that for iPhone UAs. The horizontal scrolling is so that you can read a thread without jumping pages, you don’t like it?

I'm 55 and recently self-diagnosed as "fairly ASD with some ADHD" after watching a lot of youtube videos. It's been immensely helpful (to the point of bringing me to tears sometimes) in understanding the struggles I had when I was younger. It's also been very helpful in understanding what I can do currently to support myself and work with my brain instead of against it.

Mark conversations about textlog with #metanotesfollow or #textlognotesfollow or #tlognotesfollow, so they’re not shown in ‘all’ or ‘new’ bc they’re annoying. It is becoming slow because I raised it to 100 items/page, and the cache invalidates whenever there are new posts, so you get the full cost of the query, after that it serves materialized from disk or memory which are faster. Perhaps it’s time to switch to Postgres. It’s an SQLite rn.

It’s more than that because it loads up to 5 replies for each for the expand action and it’s a complex query and it has to rank recency and reply depth, in order to show the most relevant content on collapsed vs expanded for the space we have.

Idk really, people tell me it’s going to be faster with Postgres. But I don’t think a lot will change, Postgres has better write performance, our costs are reads.

It remembers the last one you had before you left, but if you clear cookies/change devices then it doesn’t carry that. We could make the last choice db persistent. But default for new users I think “hot” is the best to find an interesting topic.

, the majority wanted something “limited” which is what we did, and the “no” crowd was also really big, while the “yes” crowd were the fewest. Still not to be ignored, which is why the posts dates are detailed (relative age & m/y) on hover after they age a couple of days iirc. So you get context when you need to, but not noise when you don’t.

The thing is, there is more noise now than it was when timestamps were around: polls, &s, hide text/blurs, details/summaries. I may be missing some. So, while aiming for less noise, more have truly been introduced.

Timestamps are now a preference in Appearance → Misc. Enjoy :) Make sure you edit your timezone afterwards from the profile settings so the hover detailed timestamp is correct.

This is exactly what I think we wanted, right? Engagement should have a core need to be born and not solely because someone said something 5 min ago, but because they said it. Not when. At least for me - this is entirely more valuable. … but I may be missing the point. Haha

No because it's not a tab, it's a filter for the 'for you' tab. If we were to make it a tab it would have to be a different feed from the 'for you', but they overlap. I think it's ok distinct as it is.

To make the "back" button work, we need to be threading our locations in the query string. This way when you click back you're teleported to the right page and right scroll location and the post you clicked from highlights for a bit to remember our focus.

If you need the permalink, it's the link on its timestamp in a post's page. Same for the user profiles and hashtags permalinks, they're inside their pages, the headings are the permalinks in case you want to copy them to share.
