Cool!! I'm currently designing and idea-shopping for an ultra light weight, super aesthetic browser whose goal is to go back to HTML roots and just be a "document browser". It would have HTML 4 and semantic HTML support, images, videos, full HTTP support, cookies, etc. No CSS, JS
if for some reason you find yourself flying from burlington vt to a dc/baltimore airport: this is a perfect time to enjoy larksโ€™ tongues in aspic [the album]

personal projects probably just arent the right knob if you want to get unpoor. if you want my honest advice i would recommend not showing hallucinate to potential employers, its landing page looks one-shot claude and is gpu heavy. but the others look very nice.

My first post on Twitter in 2007 or so was kinda about the utility of broadcasting what was on my mind. :)
How do you define #AInotesfollow slop in relation to #codingnotesfollow? For me, it is how quickly you get to an unmaintainable state- the acceleration into something that becomes difficult to work. I talk more about it here: hellodavid.dev/blog/slop #Softwarenotesfollow #Developmentnotesfollow
Not that I think we're close to a canonical definition (as if we'll ever all agree on one) but my team has defacto adopted the definition of code that the developer responsible for it doesn't understand, approve of and essentially has now honestly reviewed. Basically anything which leads to cognitive debt.
I agree, I don't think that there will ever be one canonical definition, but I like this definition as well, as it places the onus on the actual person creating the slop. Thank you for sharing!

Going to document some approaches to produce data visualizations using ari via DuckDB. Donโ€™t know why it didnโ€™t occur to me earlier, that there would be some solid community extensions for #dataviznotesfollow in DuckDB.

I was trying to use an approach that relies on community extensions, but installing them is proving finicky. Going to consider an approach that requires less futzing.
I'm looking for a way to manage my bookmarks easily on desktop and Android. Anyone have any experience with software like that? It'd be nice to be able to tag or categorize pages, and maybe to keep local mirrors for certain ones. I'm open to self-hosting. Thanks for reading!
hot take: "consumer #ainotesfollow " doesn't exist. at most it's just better search, but the ai assistants like grokbot or now instinct aren't ever going to be big. new devices and personal agents are DOA

Why do so many tools have JSON config filesโ€ฝ Commenting why options have been set the way they have is just such a basic thing to want to doโ€ฆ Why do tech people have such an aversion to writing things downโ‡

๐Ÿ˜Žprofilefollowreplied toprofilefollowI carved wooden spoons and my favourite herb is lemon thyme.:
TOML is a better format for configuration files IMO, if not for many reasons, primarily because TOML accepts comments. However, one annoying thing for TOML was the lack of schema, and the reliance on JSON Schema for that. Which I decided to tackle years ago when I started the TOML Schema project. In the past few months I leveraged code agents to take to the finish line and got something compelling: tomlschema.org

Thatโ€™s really cool. I suppose it would allow people to verify their config file is valid without having to pass it to in the intended program, which might be running in production or infeasible to run locally โ€” very interesting
Went to a store yesterday, ๐Ÿค this close to buy a Delonghi Dedica but when I touched it, it felt so so rattly and cheap and it instantly turned me off. So I did some more research and now I think a used Gaggia Classic Pro will do. #coffeenotesfollow lovers, why is your hobby so hard to break into ๐Ÿ˜ช
