Genuinely, I’m grateful we have such great choices when it comes to programming languages.

It’s just sad the whole corporate world runs on Java, Python, C++, C#, and JavaScript so I just look in envy at what I could be using

I've been enjoying toast to help click through a project. I still mostly use Zed to handwrite code, but it's nice to open a pane and fire up toast from the terminal. paradise-runner.github.io/toast/

Anyone here using NixOS? How long did it take for you to learn it and completely set it up? My current distro is Arch (btw)

Hit me up if you want a long-term, low-commitment, long-distance, e-mail pen-pal. I've never had so much fun hyphenating things.

hot take: "consumer " doesn't exist. at most it's just better search, but the ai assistants like grokbot or now instinct aren't ever going to be big. new devices and personal agents are DOA

If you close your eyes and imagine some text, why it looks like ai-generated?

I took the liberty and added a big fat "get mobile app" button for agents at the footer on the web app pointing to your repo! Hope it's fine with you. Tysm!

Wow! thank you for even considering that!

The 2030 release date of StarCraft: Dominion is so extreme that it feels like an indictment not only of Blizzard but indirectly of AI

They’re owned by Microsoft, of all companies. If AI hyperproductivity is real at scale, then why can’t the game come out next year? Next month?

So, I just got an invite to the new W Social (EU) platform. It requires proper ID authentication - so actual provable humans are on there. Feels good and slightly optimistic. Let's see how it goes.

Most of programs use key chords, like Cmd-Shift-G, Ctrl-Alt-N and so on, you need to remember and press awkwardly several keys at once. uses key sequences, C-c then k then p then l. If I forget after C-c k p then press C-h and help appears.

I have developed a beautiful free app that lays out Instagram feed photos as a perfect masonry grid every time, no matter which photos you provide it. It's completely free to use if anyone wants to check it out

replied to:

Very cool! At least the landing page is amazing! I couldn’t try the app because I don’t have photographs locally, I thought it would be able to fetch my photos from Instagram, that part I found a bit confusing.

replied to:

It's to create the post FOR Instagram, so does need to pull from your photos on a device 😊

replied to:

Ok I see! Curious wouldn’t that be a good paid plugin for WP or standalone?

replied to:

I'm unsure why, it's just for general people to use, I feel like you haven't quite grasped what the app is 😅

replied to:

Now that you mention it like this, is it that you create the masonry collage so that someone can do a perfect Instagram carousel?

Been a bit quiet here the last week or so. Recovering from ill health, at risk of redundancy, and working on side projects. It's been a bit full on. Does anyone make pay check/cheque money from side projects? Can I use my redundancy runway to turn some websites from side hustle to salary money?

Recovering from ill healthHope you’re feeling better now!Does anyone make pay check/cheque money from side projects? That’s the dream, I’ve only made a few hundreds so far. I’ve had a machine gun approach. Shoot as many rounds as possible in the hopes I might hit something. has helped immensely in this direction. I’ve done a dozen projects past year and while became I’m still not there yet. I’m hopeful though! 😊

How do they get you e-mail address?

replied to:

From my HN profile, or the page I post has a contact, or my github. It’s not that hard.

replied to:

The e-mail is only public if you put it in the about box. Maybe the solution is to remove it from there. But maybe you want to be contacted. In that case, spam would be the price to pay for reachability.
