There's a few things I'd put at the top of my "things-I-least-expect" list, among which are readers on my little blog. 61 unique reads, wowee!

Recently hit 10+ years (cumulative) of being a software engineer. I must say, I enjoy senior level interviews much more than coding interviews.

Being interviewed or interviewing?

…

Yeah, got through some interviews earlier this week. Waiting on responses.

i'm always anxious and i stutter when i get an interview, which lately has been none hence i have time to build things like this site

Today visiting Zaragoza with an aunt and my mom, I hope to be this willing and capable of moving around for leisure when I'm in my 60s too

That will come with continued moving and activity throughout your life.

Being in your 60s is not that old. As long as keep up with movement over the years you should be fine.

Productive weekend started four hours ago for me (at 06:00 EDT). Visited aunties and mum. Just got home, and waiting for wife to finish preparing to get on the road again. Next destination: nursing home (visit family, and “adopted” elders).

Цветок розы не издает голоса, а благоухание его далеко расходится молча; так надо жить и всем христианам. —Святитель Феофан Затворник

The rose flower makes no sound, but its fragrance spreads far and wide in silence; so should all Christians live. —St. Theophan the Recluse

Unliking an little-known song on Spotify and ceremoniously saying final goodbyes, knowing you'll likely never hear it again in your life

Onboarded on Claude Team with Unlimited credit usage. In the first day, subscription limits were hit and then it silently went on spending 530 EUR in credits before I noticed.

In a single day? That’s insane. It’s 5 months on the 100$ Codex which is practically unlimited.

In a few hours, yes. Token-based pricing is insane.

I knew token-based was more expensive but didn’t imagine that much. Which is why u can’t compete making alternative coding agents, their own subscriptions are much cheaper, but why they do it on their own Teams package is weird. Maybe targetting companies they feel they can pay.

…

Yes, that's for enterprises, that want SSO, governance, budgeting, data protection, etc etc. For C-level they are interested in "how much do we pay for AI", and with personal subscriptions you can't answer => can't manage it. This 530 EUR is the price for that learning.

na, jó, az egyik legyen Windows 11-es, a másik Windows 10-es, csak a tudományos kíváncsiság kedvéért, elvileg az idén még ki tud tartani a Windows 10 komolyabb probléma nélkül

well, one should be Windows 11, the other Windows 10, just for scientific curiosity, in theory Windows 10 can still last this year without any serious problems

I still don't get how now after AI coding there's people saying that contrary to common belief code wasn't a bottleneck and I realized that when I was starting to code at 10yrs ago when I was 15 and read it in a stackoverflow comment. I thought that was the common belief and still can't believe a lot of supposed senior programmers apparently believed so.

Yes, code was never the bottleneck and of course now it never will be either. Figuring out semantic modeling of data that makes sense across business domains and figuring out the right way to use digitalization to modernize processes, and the change cultures as become possible through such work - that’s much more bottlenecks! Code is easy; people and process is hard!

Are tokens an equivalent of work? Like a currency and therefor a tool to steer and prioritize work in large orgs. Hypothesis: In the end all workpackages will consist of 1 accountable human and 99% tokens burnt by an ai.

Happiness is having just enough hot water in my espresso to extend the experience without diluting it overmuch.

Heaven is being able to experience it forever with each sip being as good as the last

What if AI will never reach full autonomy and humans are still needed to give direction and purpose and take responsibility - probably... not all humans like to be masters of AIs all day long and not all (who want to) can do that equally well.

theres going to need to be a human or company to hold accountable when something goes wrong

Anybody here actively working in or has contributed to (in any capacity) conservation (be it flora or fauna)?

You know, as interesting as that sounds, I wouldn't at all know where to begin with something like that. Do you have a suggestion?

I suggest looking around your area first, perhaps there are conservation groups already. Then, select among them which one focuses on native species that are most impactful to your place. 😁

"Think of yourself as dead. You have lived your life. Now, take what's left and live it properly." - Marcus Aurelius

What a dude.

brings so many issues. It really accelerates. Not only the good parts but also the bad parts. Combine this with a product person that doesn't even know what a refinement is. I'm 41, maybe I'll study to pivot, maybe I'll get into trading. I can't handle it anymore.

……

what is a refinement? honest question - I'm restructuring our refinements now. Like having group of people discussing 5 items in an hour gives little chances any one of them will be addressed properly, unless they are trivial.

Architect/lead have a pre-refinement with product to clear 80% of the obvious questions. We share an agenda, devs can ask questions async. In the refinement product presents, we design a solution draft. 15 minutes/item. This doesn't work if product is incompetent and everything is AI-slopped.

…

Thank you, like!👍
