Is it that you donโt enjoy coffee, or you donโt enjoy Starbucks?
Iโm not a fan of Starbucksโ coffee myself, but do enjoy coffee I make at home or get from local coffee shops.
After months of hardly any rain, Iโm really enjoying a cozy day stuck indoors just listening to the downpour; getting on with doing some house cleaning. Is it too premature to declare this autumnโ
I think more than 50% of our economy's businesses, are cosplaying. Not in it for customers or profit; in it for investors and investments. "Looking like a business", as your real line of work.
I've never thought of something like OF as gambling. But I guess your point is that young adults are pushed to a lot of "you have a 0.1% chance of hitting it big and a 99.9% chance of getting no online traction at all" types of careers?
Yeah, no point in investing in yourself or a real sustainable long-term future, just gamble the little you have for a shot at life above the line. Barbell economy.
I know many small business owners, and a clear majority do have investors, whether spouse, parents, or a small business loan. Easily more than 50% never make a profit. I know a woman who ran a clothing retail store for over a decade, who was never able to pay herself a dime. When the pandemic hit, everyone closed, but the ones who actually needed the business to pay their bills opened up as soon as it was allowed or shortly thereafter. Many took years. They are cosplaying.
a business loan is not an investment, it is debt financing that pays back with interest. An investment means putting money into a company to gain ownership or a share of future profits.
to me it feels like youre arguing against cosplaying, showing small businesses struggle and arent just playing boss for the funzies.
This is a pretty neat site. I remember having vague ideas about something somewhat close to this but doing nothing with them. #idkwhattagtousenotesfollow
What's your main one? I use Substack Notes a bit these days. I was a big Twitter user (and used to work there) years ago, but stopped using it in 2023.
Bad people are working together to enrich themselves and slave others into rat races. Good people need to start working together too.
@archivist_eyes๐profilefollowYour mind is also supposed to create happiness, not just to receive it. You're supposed to find solutions, to invent, to imagine, to remember, to love. This much we always forget.replied to@sufehmi๐ฅธprofilefollow:
Good people are always more, if more affraid of things. Bad people, unfortunately, is more willing to make harm, hence why they keep the upper hand. To support eachother is the minimum we need to move forward, and so long this doesn't happen things will remain the same.
A revolution, as they say, doesn't happen with a single person, we need the mayority to join.

"we need the majority to join" - this is a very interesting point; actually we only need 3,5% ๐
Erica Chenoweth from Harvard found this from their research with Maria J. Stephan, and wrote the book "Why Civil Resistance Works".
They also found that nonviolent resistance is more often successful than the violent ones.
Very interesting stuff.
Using the internet these days is like pulling off an elaborate heist operation. Every time I successfully load a page I feel like I've "gotten away with something".
