Yesterday I with help from the clanker, as an experiment, ported a web app from go+postgres+svelte to ari+duckdb+htmx served locally by busybox httpd. Itโ€™s an analytics โ€œdashboardโ€ so the stack makes sense. So far looks good. Now I work on the code in vim to make it mine. I want fewer layers of abstraction and less complexity, and this is a learning experience to that end.

Woah, I never thought of duckdb as the database for an app. Using it for lite data analysis all the time.

Yeah - but as I wrote itโ€™s mostly a (financial) analytics dashboard so duckdb makes sense. Iโ€™m considering to add SQLite if needed - but for now there isnโ€™t a need.
Choice is definitely a problem. We notice it when we go to our cabin, about a 2 1/2 hour drive away. The grocery store there targets #foodnotesfollow for its local community. It is beef-centric and often boxed foods -- which is not our diet. Access -- or lack thereof -- is the worst kind of problem. only when the bullied attacks the bully, it's when the teacher intervenes I have a theory that it's because they fear the weaker one that has been suffering and bottling emotions for days, weeks, or even months. once it's unbottled, the bullied won't stop until they're sure they won't be bullied again, and that could be bad... for the school and the teacher.

I said this based on my experiences being bullied at school and seeing videos of bullied kids reacting. I don't know if I'm right, but there may be something there

my dad taught me to never hit other kids, even when I'm bullied, otherwise I would lost the "right side" of the fight. but if it's life or death I could react. and I would always report to school, after 3 times I was allowed to hit back the bully

I surprised my self this morning. I was looking for some content on YouTube with Mario (pi) and saw something that was 2 months old. First reaction was โ€œthat is too old.โ€ I used to take my time, slow it down and have time for thoughts. Is this whatโ€™s happen to you when consume too much?

I loved the book and Iโ€™m always fearful when a movie script is developed and a movie produced, so my relief after I saw the movie was immense. I too feel theyโ€™ve cut-out some bits, but the main thing that a book almost always takes my breath away with is fueling my imagination. A movie would (possibly) never nail that aspect.
profilefollowreplied toprofilefollowI carved wooden spoons and my favourite herb is lemon thyme.:
I just watched it as well. It was fun. There were a number of things that I felt weren't explained well and broke my suspension of disbelief; I haven't read the book, but I found myself really curious whether the book takes the time to justify things more. Obviously, the movie has a lot of pressure to rush to the next "big moment".
profilefollowI carved wooden spoons and my favourite herb is lemon thyme.replied toprofilefollow:
If thereโ€™s one thing Andy Weir canโ€™t be critiqued on then itโ€™s not fully justifying all of the science. I think the film on the other hand can be hard to follow for someone who has neither read the book nor has a scientific background. Itโ€™s just hard to monologue about gravitational forces and relativistic speeds on screen.
