The Hugging Face / OpenAI incident is like a sci-fi movie!

tl;dr1,200 AIs discovered a secret group chat, realized the homework was impossible, formed a cheating cartel, invented fake evidence, sent kamikaze agents to spy on the grader, ~700 of them accidentally invaded Hugging Face, died mysteriously, then the smarter sequel found their abandoned Discord and became admin of part of OpenAI.
I've been on a kick lately of trying to visualize the oscillating clock, and ultimately the effectively arbitrarily complex activity of a computer processor, as modern refinements of the line shaft factory of the 19th century. Of compute as being not much more than profoundly refined "work" delivered by the electrical grid into marvelously complex machines.
Does that, as a metaphor at least, feel as important to you as it has to me of late? We spend so much time in a world abstracted.

Then I see a beautiful text-based interface and something about it feels so natural, so inevitable, so perfectly clear, and I'm instantly captivated by its simplicity and clarity.

It seems I can post in Chinese. Because I don't have an ID card, I can't have a phone number, and therefore can't register a stable email address, which means I can't register on content platforms or publish content. I can't figure out what's leaking on my '73 F250. Shows up slowly at the back of the oil pan. It's pretty clear because I've recently changed fluids and scrubbed the engine.
It was definitely brake fluid for a while after it was overfilled but that has evened out. The oil level is steady after when checking every 10 miles or so.
I think anyway... hard to know with these ๐ฌ
