Your email, and the magic link, are your password. First time you encounter this approach? It is very common with many open source apps.
No, not the first time. Albeit, I prefer a password (or passkey now) for convenience.
You can generate a magic link from /account/security if you want to copy manually to your other devices without going through the email, if you used a temporary email to signup this will help. The cookies remains active through a rolling 1 year window.
If you use a strong password you can't pass it around when you try to connect another device. If you use weak one you'll get hacked. The email+magic link is the best for security+convenience.
Password is way more convenient IMO. Takes 3 seconds to log in rather than 60 (I timed it: open webmail, log in, open textlog, submit email, wait for email, click link) and I have to do this every time because the browser is set to clear all cookies on exit

sweet!
Email magic link is enough for me, but it is good to have a second option. Thanks mate! 🙏🏻
Found the use for it just now. At work I get my personal emails on my mobile device, but I am accessing textlog on the desktop. Getting a magic link on my mobile doesn't help me at all getting logged in on desktop. Enter the old, venerable, password.
Good catch! I've added yet another option, you can enter the six-digit code manually in the "Check your email" screen instead of the magic link. This should cover this case without the need to enable password.
D’oh! Just when you convinced me!
lol, i was convinced myself but @procyon4 notes15 replies3 tags, 5 users following4 followerslate is the hour in which this conjuror chooses to appearenter to follow had an argument i couldn't fight, so, passwords :P
and i also like the way it's implemented now, as an opt-in setting, instead of being the default.
