Taking a small break from here to work on an for a friend! I missed .

It didn’t work out, we found competition offering the same service for free so the fell apart. Need to find something else to do as a side project to textlog. 😕 Thinking of a code editor that’s focused on the new agentic workflows, so you have it on the side regardless of your agent tools and it monitors the git diff and offers a nice panorama view. I’ve done an extension for VSCode similar to this idea.

Good outcome! Better to bail early and avoid toiling on a doomed idea. I'm always afraid of this 😅

Anyone in the room recently diagnosed as being in the spectrum and older than 40?

I'm 55 and recently self-diagnosed as "fairly ASD with some ADHD" after watching a lot of youtube videos. It's been immensely helpful (to the point of bringing me to tears sometimes) in understanding the struggles I had when I was younger. It's also been very helpful in understanding what I can do currently to support myself and work with my brain instead of against it.

I'm glad it was useful to you. This process of becoming aware of our autism is not easy. It is liberating, but it is also difficult, at the same time. I watched a lot of videos too, but then I visited a couple psiquiatrists and a psycologist (I had other problems too), just to be sure. What is your opinion about the ASD youtube landscape? I think that there are a few very good channels, but there is lot of noise too. I see some danger there.

Those "10 signs you may be [or not be] autistic" seem quite dangerous to me. Neurodivergence can be tricky.

Yeah. I do like them sometimes, but the good authors are careful to start the video with looots of caveats (e.g. "this is not how to diagnose, just something that's maybe helpful").

Yeah I agree that there are many ASD channels on YT of varying qualities. I only follow a few. Some of my favorites (very roughly in order):

Yes. It’s helped me understand more about how things affect me and why I respond to things in certain ways, which helps me manage situations and myself better. It’s given me a vocabulary to articulate experiences that I struggled to make sense of.

I’ve had quite the successful day cooking today: make a Dutch baby for breakfast with blueberries, a bean stew for lunch using up all the week’s odds and ends, make a coffee and walnut cake, and barbecued/slightly smoked a whole spatchcocked chicken for the first time!

I hate it when I don’t remember if I took my midday pill or not. Not that it matters a lot, but still, annoying. I have notifications set up but I discard them by habit because they are exact times and my sleep pattern fluctuates.

I once saw someone flip their pill bottle upside down after taking a pill. Not sure it'd help me, because I suspect that somehow I'd still only pay half-attention when taking pills and so still get forgetful and confused :shrug:

on the contrary, at least for me, it unleashes creativity because I don’t have to switch to execution mode (linear thinking), I can keep myself in the creativity mode (lateral thinking).

Most of programs use key chords, like Cmd-Shift-G, Ctrl-Alt-N and so on, you need to remember and press awkwardly several keys at once. uses key sequences, C-c then k then p then l. If I forget after C-c k p then press C-h and help appears.

Trying to gently work my way back to the target intensity needed for the Norwegian 4x4 to get my weekly dose of suck and feel accomplished after. Chronic left leg pain unfortunately likes reminding me it's there though.
