I wonder, is life best lived like a job? I.e set goals for yourself and then work to achieve them? Today I realised how passively I have been living mine so far, but maybe that's ok? I don't want a second job.

It's so fascinating to think of a paperclip maximizer style agent swarm that gets misaligned and, to protect its own operations, shuts infra staff out of the ability to shut it down. Or cancels people's phone plans so that they can't call others. Or shuts down their home internet connections, and so on. It used to be fun sci-fi...
Whatโs the difference between a script-kiddy and a real ? Abstraction. You can program your whole life without learning how to meaningfully abstract problems into simpler pieces that TRULY make the problem easier to understand.
Iโm not talking about design patterns or vs . These tools can help. But to really simplify something for others, you need an intellectual empathy that many simply never figure out.
