Bad night, first the boy woke up at midnight and went with him, then at 4 am heavy rain started so went to bring the bike to the terrace, then thunderstorm and kids were scary, then the cat meowed at 6am. Iโ€™m okay.
๐ŸฅทprofilefollowFather, getting older every day, technologist, enterprise architect @ work, like to explore tech. Like to keep it simple and work in the shell, write in vim, prefer Debian if I have the choice. Plays saxophone and clarinet. Enjoy motorcycle riding, photography, hiking. Christian.wrote:
There are days llms impress, and days they donโ€™t. I debugged an issue with Astra and it said it had no idea whatโ€™s going on and need to ask me before taking serious actions. Me adding โ€œ-fโ€ to a mv and problem solved. So today I was not impressed.

This is like the third time in my life I've seen an interrobang in the wild. And I don't know, but I'd prefer JSON over having configuration as constants in a PHP script like at $DAYJOB sob

My problem with yaml is the indentation annoyance it leads to, and if you are using the same tool on two different machine like windows and linux, have fun configuring those tabs and spaces all the time. I do like toml and ini for editing, but json is not as bad as yaml for sure
This may become a thing. Have you seen the results of PISA? School performance is going down in the OCDE and richer students are going down faster (they have more tech available). Maybe the future si for those who ditch the computers.
having just spent a week camper-travelling Norway, hiking mountains and glaciers, swimming in fjords really put some things into perspective for me - I should take more vacations
I'm looking for a way to manage my bookmarks easily on desktop and Android. Anyone have any experience with software like that? It'd be nice to be able to tag or categorize pages, and maybe to keep local mirrors for certain ones. I'm open to self-hosting. Thanks for reading!

๐Ÿ˜ดprofilefollowI really enjoy learning, I really enjoy making. I'm learning to be less guarded.wrote:
I've been on a kick lately of trying to visualize the oscillating clock, and ultimately the effectively arbitrarily complex activity of a computer processor, as modern refinements of the line shaft factory of the 19th century. Of compute as being not much more than profoundly refined "work" delivered by the electrical grid into marvelously complex machines. Does that, as a metaphor at least, feel as important to you as it has to me of late? We spend so much time in a world abstracted.
