Huge refactor today, moved from sync SQLite to Worker based, touched 88 files, pre-#AInotesfollow it would have taken a week or so, finished now in ~1:30h. And I wouldnโ€™t have the confidence I have now that it went correct. It went well, though a bug or two might surface, weโ€™ll see.

SQLite is embedded in the main thread same as the HTTP server. I noticed some requests dropping and because the queries have become more complex I figured it has to do with SQLite blocking for too much time. Moving it to a Worker makes the DB asynchronous and bypass this problem.

So I found the blog of a Ukrainian Front Line soldier on Bear Blog today. Incredibly grim stuff to read, but I really wanna get in touch with that guy now and send him so cash so he can buy a burger. Hope Herman forwards my message ๐Ÿ˜ช

Finally watched Project Hail Mary. Easily one of my top 5 favourite films but itโ€™s still not nearly as good as the book โ€” I feel like the cut some pretty important scenes

I loved the book and Iโ€™m always fearful when a movie script is developed and a movie produced, so my relief after I saw the movie was immense. I too feel theyโ€™ve cut-out some bits, but the main thing that a book almost always takes my breath away with is fueling my imagination. A movie would (possibly) never nail that aspect.

I just watched it as well. It was fun. There were a number of things that I felt weren't explained well and broke my suspension of disbelief; I haven't read the book, but I found myself really curious whether the book takes the time to justify things more. Obviously, the movie has a lot of pressure to rush to the next "big moment".

If thereโ€™s one thing Andy Weir canโ€™t be critiqued on then itโ€™s not fully justifying all of the science. I think the film on the other hand can be hard to follow for someone who has neither read the book nor has a scientific background. Itโ€™s just hard to monologue about gravitational forces and relativistic speeds on screen.

Super tired today. Must be the fall. Must be the rain. Must be the stretch of 5 meetings back to back the whole work day. Must be everything thatโ€™s on my mind. Tomorrow itโ€™s a new day!

Ouch. Did you contribute in these meetings?

Sure, thatโ€™s what I do. Iโ€™m not sad for it, itโ€™s actually great to be able to put my very small dent in a few things. But exhausting it is nevertheless.

Glad you're still a part of it, it's all performing, really. My meetings were useless. I was the youngest guy there, didn't have much to do but practise my doodling.

"Sharing economy" once meant something. You'd Uber someone Bโ†’C when already driving Aโ†’Bโ†’Cโ†’D; you'd AirBNB your home when vacationing and stay at someone else's home who was doing the same. No driving just for Uber; no houses just for AirBNB. I fear this history will be forgotten.

My hometown is a popular tourist destination and we no longer can rent apartments on a year-basis. Everything is AirBnB and they only rent them to locals pretty expensive and off-season. As a local I can't live in my hometown anymore, so I'm staying in the mountains.
