I've been on a kick lately of trying to visualize the oscillating clock, and ultimately the effectively arbitrarily complex activity of a computer processor, as modern refinements of the line shaft factory of the 19th century. Of compute as being not much more than profoundly refined "work" delivered by the electrical grid into marvelously complex machines.
Does that, as a metaphor at least, feel as important to you as it has to me of late? We spend so much time in a world abstracted.
i made an extension to get a top hacker news items with summary on every new tab.

cool! i've made The Front Page you might want to check it out also - it shows the first 3 pages of HN with AI summaries and images. Like a newspaper.

Adding features is easy. Minimalism is hard.

creator of textlog:I agree that minimalism is hard. Thatโs why the subset was explicitly recommended small. Yet, I believe it is extremely useful to have.

Bold/italics add unnecessary noise/clutter and the font is already monospace, suited for code, so inline code & code fences are not needed. If 3rd party clients want to implement them it's fine but I'm sensitive to visual noise.

Three for three on British dishes this weekend: had a full English and a pie (rabbit) yesterday, now to do a beef roast. Lovely and cozy in this autumnal weather.
Things I'm enjoying lately:
Vampire Survivors + Diablo IV
Alien + Dune ambiance
Howling Dark book 2 of Sun Eater
great TV
I got an email from battle.net to confirm my age. Apparently some content may be restricted to minors in the region my account is from.
You would think that the account having been created 19 years ago, and with some CD-keys of games from the late 1990's having been added to it would be enough proof, but oh well.
