When I read about in reputable , I relate to almost everything that is described (keeping in mind that no two autistic people are alike). However, I always read the sections on with bewilderment. I don't identify either with the obsessive need to make eye contact, which UK and US books often mention as behavior, or with the difficulties in making it.

I suspect—and this is the interesting part—that there are significant cultural differences in this regard. In fact, the reputable Spanish books on autism that I have read don't address this topic (if I remember correctly).

Definitely people here do intense full locked eye contact, which I can’t do, unless I’m attracted to the person as I said. Even then I’ll move a bit around the face because it’s uncomfortable even then. But others just lock in completely I see them doing it.

OK. I guess that Greece may be similar to Spain. I feel comfortable hanging with greeks, in Greece and elswhere. Then, if I don't look at the eyes, but others do. I guess that I'm very good at masking that I don't look at the eyes. I never got a comment related to eye contact.

I don’t think it’s something people notice immediately and consciously think this is wrong to make a comment, they will probably just not feel the same connection or feel something is off about you in general or think that you’re busy thinking other things. It’s not the only case to not make eye contact with someone, you might just not like them. That’s probably what they will sense.

This is probably the right answer. I guess I have to forget about it. The kids I think about it the better.

How can I change an organisation with hundreds of frustrated employees, when I can’t change my own life with only one person. Does a different person run a company and a different person live their life? I doubt it.

I think so, actually. My wife runs my household, I run my engineering org. As I get older I do see the two aspects of my personality start to merge but they are still divergent and were much moreso in my earlier years.

and to be clear, I don't mean that I offload all the work to her by any stretch. It's just that I'm much more outspoken and opinionated on the specifics of work life versus home life.

hello world ~ i'm a web developer from midwest, usa. it's been awhile since i worked on anything. since the i've been working my way up the ladder at a blue-collar job; i was promoted to team lead last week. but as i browse hacker news everyday, my cravings for web development increases.

Turned Stepper (self-hosted AWS StepFunctions) into client-server. Server hosts state machines, clients poll for tasks. New resources about running . claude -p works, now thinking if I need interactive session management.

Inspired by two projects of github:schildep I start to explore what can be expressed in Lean and make coding agents implement and prove the implementation at the same time.

The two projects of github:schildep are "3d mesh intersection" and "multipolygon intersection". I can try "Voronoi diagram generation" as a starter.
