The vast majority of the time I prefer silence. Unlike @stagasprofilefollowcreative technologist creator of textlog, my #ADHDnotesfollow gets distracted with music. When I do listen to music, it has to be no vocals. I find #SpaceMusicnotesfollow, like Jonn Serrie, Brian Eno, and Steve Roach best for me.

The older I get, the more coding/working I do in silence. Even then the music tends to be instrumentals or beats vs anything with lyrics

I'm almost always listening to music when I'm doing heads-down work. Typically ambient, minimal house, jazz, sometimes classical. Vocals or complicated instrumentation makes it hard for me to focus.

Often silence, for me. I could create a (narrow) bell curve of problems where I listen to music. If I'm doing light enough work then I don't tend to listen to music, probably just out of habit - but as I approach problems of a certain complexity then I do prefer music. I just find that complexity band is narrow and past it I need to turn off the music. I would like to widen my music band. My preference is usually ambient - I like Gaussian curve and Hiroshi Yoshimura
