I have been a mod and even admin of several small online spaces, and I don't even see the appeal of going power-hungry and unjust when in those positions. I can theorize about it, but it remains wildly unintuitive. Avoiding being a pain isn't the hardest thing ever either: rely on the rules as written, hedge your judgements, rely on facts rather than vibes, consider how things would appear if you were wrong.

I just watched the 2025 #movieenter to follow Companion, and if it's intelligently made and has a decent feminist message, the setting made me wish that instead the focus had been on loving what you're not sure is even sentient, living with made up yet precious memories, and strange human/machine partnerships. Not really a critique, just a reaction from what got my imagination going.
