i think the best you can get right now is qwen 3.8 27B. youre gonna need 24 gigs of some fast memory though, i heard theres decent quantizations that can also make it run on 16. im quite excited about open/local models, but theres big investment overhead with the prices right now

You might be able to try out colibri, its quite good and the models are a bit better. I am unable to connect any of the cli agents to do things with it though, probably due to context limits, but try it out. OlMoe is the lightest

Opened up signups and postedLinkedInMain ยท A quiet, well-organized record of everything that keeps your home running. | Evan MeagherI'm excited to share something I'm working on with Eric Noggle: https://getonmain.com For most people, a home is the most valuable asset that they own. And yet, homes remain chronically under-managed. Cars have service records. Portfolios have dashboards. Homes have a junk drawer full of manuals and receipts. This leads to problems that degrade a home's value over time. Deferred maintenance snowballs from small issues to emergency repairs costing thousands. hello, but exciting, Gemma 4 LLM is now crawling onto the silent hawk laptop, the dual boot main terminal couldn't handle the class struggle anymore, hopefully it won't require a vpn or static ip, the OpenClaw agent is coming to VirtualBox, I'll report on it within the humanities IT project

i dont think its all talk, these are smart people that have been in ai since the 2000s, and they raise good points. current incentive structures are very dangerous long term

they too have every incentive to exaggerate because they are selling safety and/or books on the topic. I donโ€™t believe we wonโ€™t see it coming. Any issues that will manifest will be very visible and weโ€™ll have plenty of time to mitigate their impact.

they could be making a lot more money by just working at ai firms i fear. the thing that got me worried the hacking incidents lately, huggingface etc. if the capabilities consistently outspeed the development of safety measures, and if the private arms race logic continues, i dont think this is a good spot to be in long term

I've been building a Markdown variant called Zd that's focused on extensibility and simplicity. I'm curious what you would change about Markdown if you were designing it from scratch, what challenges you face as a user, or what you wish were easier to do when incorporating Markdown into your own projects.

Yeah, 100%. That is completely something I am punting on currently. It would be easy to just copy over the solution from (extensions to) Markdown, but it's hard to entirely narrow in on both what tables ought to do and how to make them do it. If you had a magic wand, what would you have them be more like?
