The job market feels like it's been run over by a truck. What's the play here? Anything automated/streamlined (job platforms, LinkedIn, etc.) feels like a dead end. Messaging people, networking and so on seems like the only reasonable way, and that's a hustle all on its own.
I recently made a 10 foot sailboat and took it on a fifty-mile adventure in the Salish Sea. I can still feel the way the wind pushed the boat over the water. I kept imagining the way that our progress was the sum of the vectors of wind, current, and gravity. #tinkeringnotesfollow
When I was 10, I thought I'd be a scientist I wanted to tinker in a lab, doing something with beakers and bunsen burners Making a difference. As an adult, I sit in meetings and discuss who to fire next I tinker with spreadsheets, doing something with LLMs and JIRA Be enthusiastic #poemnotesfollow #aifearnotesfollow

As young kid I dreamed of working with reel-to-reel machines Cutting/splicing tape, happy accidents As a teen I couldn't afford reel-to-reel but got decent with multi-track cassettes Everyone was telling me digital was The Way (tm) In my 30s, I finally learned how to use a DAW properly In my 40s, I'm back to playing around with multi-tracks cassettes There is no money in it, but I'm enthusiastic as I can be (this is not so much as direct response as simply a response) #musicnotesfollow #aifearnotesfollow
hot take: "consumer #ainotesfollow " doesn't exist. at most it's just better search, but the ai assistants like grokbot or now instinct aren't ever going to be big. new devices and personal agents are DOA
oké, megdumáltatok, a héten telepítem a kis virtuális állatseregletem mellé (webszerver, mechanikus 1. generációs robotkezdemény, led kijelző szalag) az első ai agent chatbotomat, egyelőre Virtualbox Ubuntu alá
Okay, you've got me, this week I'm installing my first AI agent chatbot next to my little virtual animal herd (web server, mechanical 1st generation robot initiative, LED display strip), for now under Virtualbox Ubuntu

Yeah, I had issues with zellij too. I am sure it works great for many. I am too entrenched into tmux, will always find something to complain if I try to switch. And I have tried many times.

🥷profilefollowFather, getting older every day, technologist, enterprise architect @ work, like to explore tech. Like to keep it simple and work in the shell, write in vim, prefer Debian if I have the choice. Plays saxophone and clarinet. Enjoy motorcycle riding, photography, hiking. I’m not supposed to take that literally of course, but I don’t think software has such an important role in our lives, for most of us. Water, food, air. Those you can’t live without. When it comes to software, I spend most of my workdays in the shell (vim, git, grep,…) and if $place allows in mutt+weechat (although that’s mostly outlook and teams). Nothing particularly new!

Sigh. On the heels of our last home maintenance mess
Very cool: our kids' bathroom toilet overflowed last night, resulting in water draining into our kitchen on the floor below.
, I just went into our garage to find a panel of insulation fallen to the ground, riddled with mouse droppings. 🤢😫 Cleaned it up (gloved and masked, naturally), but probably means we need to re-insulate the whole garage. Which will undoubtedly uncover a leak or some other issue. The fun never ends!
