Bad night, first the boy woke up at midnight and went with him, then at 4 am heavy rain started so went to bring the bike to the terrace, then thunderstorm and kids were scary, then the cat meowed at 6am. Iโm okay.
I think short urls are still memorable and good. My phone doesn't surrogate all of my recall.

URLs spat out by URL shorteners are something entirely different.

The longer the text you need to store, the bigger a QR code needs to be in order to scan reliably.
Also, you might be more confident in being able to keep a short URL stable (it's already a step of indirection, so if you want to reorg your site you can just update where the short URL points to). But people don't really take care to maintain short URLs anyway, apparently.

there's a gentle kind of space
not some echoing cave
nor some incessant chirping flock
more a darkened back room
lit by a projector
candid photos of your neighbors
songs made only for friendly ears
and the kind of brave words
that rarely make it out of our hearts

I lately been a bit curious of strudel io and the live coding movement. I have found some cool artist but if you have any recommendation feel free to drop it.
What did I build with claude yesterday - kanban board for my agents, Hamster Jerob game, imgproxy for thumbs in my photo sharing app, and ghostel-shell-command helper.
Today - digital detox day.
It's not clear, based on personal experience, how long - if it all - the software development field will value devs who actually enjoy the work. Most people I know are producing mostly AI work and there's an obvious skill decline that's resulted from it. 1/?
But does it matter if your boss doesn't care? Or if their boss doesn't care? If the paychecks keep coming who cares? What's the point of choosing the mountain if the "joy" just means more hours on screen that could have been spent elsewhere? 2/?
I got into doing dev work, because I thought it was fun to learn and do and I genuinely enjoyed hanging out with others who felt the same. Now, more than ever, I realize how few people feel the same. And, now - more than ever, I realize that no on cares if I feel that way. 3/?
This SM is like a subreddit feed, except you also get a personalized feed along with 'hot' and 'latest' for people you follow. Or maybe it's modelled after twitter? Never used it so wouldnt know
I'm really interested to play around with textlog for a bit. I miss the space that once was Twitter and its constraints. Let's see if we find any #NixOSnotesfollow users here ... ;)
Economist Lant Pritchett describes shifts in ideas as silly, controversial, progressive, then obvious.

#AInotesfollow brings so many issues. It really accelerates. Not only the good parts but also the bad parts. Combine this with a product person that doesn't even know what a refinement is. I'm 41, maybe I'll study to pivot, maybe I'll get into trading. I can't handle it anymore.
what is a refinement? honest question - I'm restructuring our refinements now. Like having group of people discussing 5 items in an hour gives little chances any one of them will be addressed properly, unless they are trivial.
Architect/lead have a pre-refinement with product to clear 80% of the obvious questions. We share an agenda, devs can ask questions async. In the refinement product presents, we design a solution draft. 15 minutes/item. This doesn't work if product is incompetent and everything is AI-slopped.
I was obsessed with Greece as a kid because of The Chipmunk's Adventure movie where they were dancing on the statues, ha. I was more into he statues (even if cartoon) than the dancing, and yet I have still never been there (I'm 45).

You arrive at a beautiful beach. I crossed it when I was little, I remember whining a lot because for my small feet it was much harder.
I like this, it feels like Reddit before what it is now, but I feel like it wonโt be long until the internet destroys this place. Until then Iโm happy to be here.
It's really sad that this is such a common sentiment whenever there's a nice online community nowadays. Guess most of us have been burnt enough times by now
My favorite part of classic reddit was the use of elaborate hacks to circumvent the restrictions on custom subreddit CSS. E.g. animated gifs weren't allowed, so people made filmstrip sprites with stepwise animation in such a way as to look exactly the same.
