The best Mcp server I have as Claude Connector is Emacs running on my Homeserver. It has one tool - eval-elisp. Using it Claude can do almost anything. My top 1 pinned chat is โRun agent-start-claude-code using HotterEmacs in dir โฆโ - after that I have a ready to use remote-controlled session running on my homeserver.
I find myself building bespoke tooling for my own and workflows these days, not only because of the obvious reason of software being so much cheaper to build, but also because there are SO MANY options for solving any given problem that it feels impossible to evaluate all of them.
If it's not a crucial piece of tech for a work problem then it often feels like paving my own way is both cheaper mentally (kind of amazing that's true these days) and probably a better fit.
I'm doing experiments with short attention-span students and code. Starting with python, and, oddly, now working in BASIC. As a C programmer of 40+ years, I find this aesthetically and pedagogically displeasing, but I am delighted to see them getting fully absorbed in writing
130 PRINT "You have been eaten by a bear!" : GOTO 900. Yes there is spaghetti, but it's their spaghetti and they seem to take delight in debugging it. Python will come later. I've been on a kick lately of trying to visualize the oscillating clock, and ultimately the effectively arbitrarily complex activity of a computer processor, as modern refinements of the line shaft factory of the 19th century. Of compute as being not much more than profoundly refined "work" delivered by the electrical grid into marvelously complex machines.
Does that, as a metaphor at least, feel as important to you as it has to me of late? We spend so much time in a world abstracted.
New in agenttop.dev : panels open in your . ๐คนโโ๏ธ
โข Any panel can now split into its own pane, live, beside the table.
โข Works with all the popular multiplexers: , , ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ธ๐ถ๐๐๐.
โข run a panel on its own: agent-top mcp, agent-top slow, agent-top fails, agent-top advice.
โ The # MCP panel also lists the orphaned MCP processes that outlived their agent and are still eating memory.

Stories always begin this way: a chance encounter, completely unexpected. Stories always end this way: two flowers bloom, then drift apart. (by Zhang Jiajia, I Belonged to You)
