Bandcamp Friday is almost over! Today, 100% of the proceeds go to your favorite artists โค๏ธ Go buy some music and take back the power from shitty streaming services
The e-mail is only public if you put it in the about box. Maybe the solution is to remove it from there. But maybe you want to be contacted. In that case, spam would be the price to pay for reachability.
i dont think its all talk, these are smart people that have been in ai since the 2000s, and they raise good points. current incentive structures are very dangerous long term
they too have every incentive to exaggerate because they are selling safety and/or books on the topic. I donโt believe we wonโt see it coming. Any issues that will manifest will be very visible and weโll have plenty of time to mitigate their impact.
they could be making a lot more money by just working at ai firms i fear. the thing that got me worried the hacking incidents lately, huggingface etc.
if the capabilities consistently outspeed the development of safety measures, and if the private arms race logic continues, i dont think this is a good spot to be in long term
Do you code in silence or do you listen to music? If so, what kind of music do you prefer? Personally, I prefer Synthwave, vaporwave or the occasional country.
I can recommend rainwave.cc if you want an online radio for video game music. I tend to hang around there quite often and listen to their chiptune station.
depends on my mood and inner state
sometimes just silence
sometimes background from mynoise .net
sometimes a punk rock web radio
sometimes my music collection (I stream myself, that's right). mostly punk rock again.
very occasional let YouTube run starting from something I like
I think yes, but precisely NOT "at a philosophical level". You can have it only if you get your hands dirty and build it yourself. I think @stagasprofilefollowcreative technologist
creator of textlog already proved this, just as a close example.
If speaking on a philosophical level, then first we have to ask: whatโs โniceโ and whatโs โto haveโ ๐

Like to keep it simple and work in the shell, write in vim, prefer Debian if I have the choice. Plays saxophone and clarinet. Enjoy motorcycle riding, photography, hiking. If you consider what you have nice, you can have nice things. If your expectations to your surroundings are very very low, you will be amazed with all the nice things you get from people you meet through your day. My personal approach. #simplelifenotesfollow
I naively went into a work problem thinking that RAG was solved by the service offered at work, and wow was I wrong. Been a fun week so far experimenting with many different methods before doing the academic research, and it's been nice to be validated by outside research.
Made barbecue this evening. Lamb and chicken for meat, pepper and zucchini for veggies. Yummy! Kids loved it, the boy's sleeping now, the girl is reading a book, the wife's out with her girls, I'm with wine. Life's good.
Applied to an L5 software engineering role via e-mail and without any other contact I received back a bunch of questions that clearly look like they're aimed at L6 or even L7. Not sure what to do with that so I withdrew. Briefly considered answering them but was weirded out.
