With each passing workday I spend agentsitting, my ability to program in isolation atrophies.
This might be dismissed as needless self-serving anxiety, but perhaps irrationally, I can't let it go.

Hi, teying to get started with linux and basic networking/cybersec here. What are some essential linux commands ant tools, or pentesting philosophies i should learn before i dip my toes in the water? Thanks :)
Essential commands are:
ip for network interface and routing config
host/dig/nslookup for DNS querying
tc for traffic control
nft for firewalling
mii-tool for interface tweaking
nmap for LAN discovery
tcpdump to view traffic
ping/ping6/traceroute/traceroute6/mtr for debugging connection issues
Brikka.
Someone on HN mentioned it as great design. I looked it up and bought it after a while. It's been such a delight. Even the occasional brew gone wrong adds to the experience.
v60 is also nice when I need it to slow down or be the experience a bit meditative. But Chinese tea is the best for that.
A lot of people write so much software to sandbox their AI agents.
I say don't bother. Just give your agent its own non-admin local user account. It's easier and much more effective.
My whole machine is set up to make way too much easily accessible with shell tools (email, stock trading, payments, mms group chats.) I can't trust it.
The essential work of #programmingnotesfollow is building the theory of the problem + solution. Theory then enables creation of working code. In the end, the code is necessary, but it is not sufficient. Theory is indispensable. (cf. Peter Naur, 1985)
