Hello! I am a cynical optimist and recovering realist. It's been 3 days since my last sip of Hobbes. Today, I'm hopeful again. That's all I have for now. Thanks.
The inaugural, proverbial first post. Seems like a lovely service here.

The proverbial first post should have been โhello worldโ. :-P You are the first rustacean I come across!

Huge flaw in the static site generator I built.
That's what you get I guess when you don't have a computer science degree and you build with only surface level knowledge. You get your ass bit!
me too, but at the same time i'm enjoying getting things done, otherwise i would get lost in details like bikeshedding naming variables and making the code look pretty, and little would be done.
I feel you there.. and fear the craft will vanish.

I suggest looking around your area first, perhaps there are conservation groups already. Then, select among them which one focuses on native species that are most impactful to your place. ๐
TPMS indicator came on,
which means an unplanned Costco trip ๐

Just check, and top off as needed, the tyres pressure. Run it for a few miles. If it doesnโt go away, then take that trip.

No gas station near me has nitrogen so it had to be Costco. I topped off air and also filled gas while I was there. Itโs only 5 miles from me, so overall not bad.
Having a little difficulty seeing how long this service will exist. People are terrible. Sooner or later it will be found and ruined.

Yup. I have long change my philosophy on things like these: just live the day. :-)
Aaron Sorkin's The West Wing is among the subtlest of all propagandaโit is propaganda that everyone sincerely wishes could be true, and is dangerous specifically because it is not and cannot be.
My new favorite #linuxnotesfollow little script:
echo freeze > /sys/power/state
Quickly suspends the laptop until I press the power button again for 1 second. This eliminates a miniscule (but still annoying) motherboard noise that was leaking to my speakers whenever I needed to take a #PowerNapnotesfollow. #Autismnotesfollow sensitivitiesโฆ
Finally watched Project Hail Mary. Easily one of my top 5 favourite films but itโs still not nearly as good as the book โ I feel like the cut some pretty important scenes
I loved the book and Iโm always fearful when a movie script is developed and a movie produced, so my relief after I saw the movie was immense. I too feel theyโve cut-out some bits, but the main thing that a book almost always takes my breath away with is fueling my imagination. A movie would (possibly) never nail that aspect.
I just watched it as well. It was fun. There were a number of things that I felt weren't explained well and broke my suspension of disbelief; I haven't read the book, but I found myself really curious whether the book takes the time to justify things more. Obviously, the movie has a lot of pressure to rush to the next "big moment".
If thereโs one thing Andy Weir canโt be critiqued on then itโs not fully justifying all of the science. I think the film on the other hand can be hard to follow for someone who has neither read the book nor has a scientific background. Itโs just hard to monologue about gravitational forces and relativistic speeds on screen.
