I picked the first, because you didnโ€™t specified level, and I assumed below college.
Already started adding JS here and there, trying to keep it progressively enhanced, so JS-disabled works up to a certain point. Letโ€™s see how far we can go with that model. Next step would be a full frontend rewrite (though trying not to change the feel of the website) and simply making actions not having to do full page (re)loads.
If programming is the typing of characters into a text file, it is way worse. I think the key to learning is still doing it rather than reading it. If the question is about system design I think you can, but only if you curious and it becomes a problem that needs to be solved. Asking "What do you think" is one of my favorite questions to learn at the moment.

I do think there will be what were hard earned lessons about system design, code smell, designing data structures for the hardware you're running on, concurrency golden paths, etc., which are now with agentic dev even harder to learn and internalize. But also if you have an excellent teacher in the form of an actually-good model pair programming with you always, maybe not? Maybe a pair programming AI programming tutor would be a good Zed/vscode extension. Or product.
Iโ€™ve changed the tabs. โ€œSome other combinationโ€ was very high in the previous poll and I wanted to keep the labels short so they fit on mobile, so โ€œfollowingโ€ and โ€œinboxโ€ wouldnโ€™t fit along with โ€œrandomโ€ and โ€œlatestโ€. #metanotesfollow Soโ€ฆ do you like the tabs now? #pollnotesfollow

What the "for you" means? Often I find things there, but, why are they "for me"? What's the criteria? Same for "to me". Are "to me" replies to my notes, or comments, or are they something else? I will start by defining what exactly are those two, before getting into further weeds.
@ โ†’ smallest token, visited less often than the rest, very visible when it has a counter that you need to pay attention to (someone interacted with you) my feed โ†’ largest token, this is where you should be spending your time mostly. right now itโ€™s everything youโ€™re following, but in the future might be enriched, so itโ€™s a feed of information, my feed of information hot โ†’ obvious, unambiguous all โ†’ simply everything thatโ€™s posted. clearly communicated.
All have different dimensions & shapes. for you -> personalization -> feed / my feed / my textlog / >_ (branded) for me -> directionality -> mentions / my mentions / @me @ is also directionality signifier hot -> popularity -> hot all -> firehose/chronology -> latest, tho it does create a endo-hit Goofy shorthand experiments (maybe superscripts?): >_ @me !hot *all or: >_ @ ! *
As long as we're doing this, may I put forth that the "hot" tab runs counter to the principle that removing view counts and timestamps seemed to embody? I'd rather have a "random" tab than a hot. I liked your impulse to design around dopamine rather than at it.
Iโ€™ve given a lot of thought about that. My thinking was to keep some older nice posts a bit more alive to keep the discussion going. And it works to a percentage. But as it is now with the new conversation views it overlaps a lot with โ€œlatestโ€ as the active conversations get bumped to the top anyway, so the current โ€œhotโ€ topics are in latestโ€™s first page naturally. So I might refactor the algorithm a bit to favor top level posts. I think itโ€™s worth it, new users especially discover posts there..
Furthermore, writing again to your surfaced spaced repetition would, as a side-effect, bubble up to the all & potentially hot feeds making new content visible to others. It's not a fully shaped or realized concept. Just dreaming up other ideas.

Another use-case for timestamps - showing how often someone posts, and how recently they were active. I want to be able to send my friends a link to my user page and say "follow me here for random thoughts". Odds are they're not going to create an account, but they might bookmark it and check for updates from time to time. Timestamps will tell them whether it's worthwhile to do this.
Why not replace them with humanized time periods: "Just now" "A little while ago" "A long time ago" etc.

Yes! I made a similar suggestion on HN, though like your labels better. I was thinking a bit more on it that after "just now" and a hypothetical "new" that the timestamp could disappear so long as there has been a response within X amount of time, for example, after 2 months. After this time period it could start saying things like, "a while ago," "quite a while ago," and "a long time ago" based on (for example) 1 years ago, 2 years ago, > 2 years ago.

Thatโ€™s what we do now. In the post pages there is approximate time with more precise hover informtaion for older posts, so there is context. Also when a post is unread it will show these approximate times so again you can tell when they were written roughly.
