I've been on a kick lately of trying to visualize the oscillating clock, and ultimately the effectively arbitrarily complex activity of a computer processor, as modern refinements of the line shaft factory of the 19th century. Of compute as being not much more than profoundly refined "work" delivered by the electrical grid into marvelously complex machines. Does that, as a metaphor at least, feel as important to you as it has to me of late? We spend so much time in a world abstracted.

This could just be on Activity Pub tho right?

Quite a few major 's implemented today, API writes, password logins, full-text search. Wonder what's going to follow.

A lot of people write so much software to sandbox their AI agents. I say don't bother. Just give your agent its own non-admin local user account. It's easier and much more effective.

I give my AI Full-Access. :p

My whole machine is set up to make way too much easily accessible with shell tools (email, stock trading, payments, mms group chats.) I can't trust it.

Just got Moshi set up - a phone-friendly terminal app. Works well with Herdr for persistent agents, friendly UI. Verdict so far: looks like I'll be working more from my phone.

I like the minimalism of this site, very well done imo. It is more engaging.

did they silently decrease the subscription limits on codex? (in addition to reintroducing the 5h limit?) subscription models suck so bad when they can just change the terms and make the product shittier.

I reached the limit also for the first time on the $100. Either that or we’re just using them more.

i keep open all day - the 3d pauses when the tab is out of focus, so i just get a ton of music i like without wasting cpu/gpu, and occassionally switch to the tab and play a little or chat if anyone's there.

My son's new class doesn't have a Smith, Johnson, or Williams. It's the Hughes kid who breaks in at . I expect these kids with strong stage names to have pants and personalities to match.

shower thought: swap 'is a model' for 'is constructed' and postmodernism suddenly becomes a lot more palatable without losing much of its core message.

A thing I've been doing lately is trying to come to the same conclusions others have without looking their the direct techniques and code.
