good morning everyone, drinking coffee with syrniki and strawberries.

morning! sounds delicious.

Today, I wrote a new Business Continuity Plan, worked with my SRE manager to improve responses to alerts, got a cringe email from HR and have to tell my staff to RTO 3-days a week if not classified as remote. Worked out for my 8th day streak, and cuddled in bed with my girl. Hello World

"200K lines is not 10 times as much as 20K lines - from the mission perspective it's just irrelevant. And yet it's the easiest thing to measure. And so we look for the keys under the lamp post." ~Kent Beck www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8fBgDCf2Y4&t=2753s

Listening to this I had an AHA moment. When the powers that be made more and more LLM tokens the whole goal, I thought it was quite stupid. But I realized that for them it made sense, because in their managerial understanding of programming, they believed the output of LLMs is the best they could get for the money.

Or they just had investments in LLM factories.

'wade in the water.' isn't this the challenge of being 'ahead'? so many of us are waist deep in the same sea, it's hard to see what's in front of us vs. what's behind us. then we see the yacht boys sail by with their new masters, splashing us in their wake. then we grumble amongs

then we grumble amongst ourselves about 'that was my idea,' then carry on.

i always have to resist dream futures that are way out of my league. no, Orit no! you can't be a priest your a girl!!!! noo!!! you can't be a cardinal either, stop!!

oh,and what a shame it is! burning some incense at my altar and trying to climb the religious ladder! sigh...

Well this looks very nice indeed. Just dipping a hoof into the river for now ...

Which river? Asking because most rivers are contaminated these days. Be careful!

ty and welcome!

I'm curious how do people start writing longer novels.. what determines the length of it? Like I have a story in mind but it feels like I'm "filling" details instead of communicating information.

I have a novelist friend, she usually starts with the characters and the ending and as you wrote, "filling" the details backward/forward

Hello, everyone. I am how are you? Today is Friday. Welcome to my text log.

What's up ku, welcome to this hard drive where you can share a slice of consciousness with many :--)

Hi ku (:

Waves 👋

…

hi! 🙌

Hi 👋

a constant, existential pull so old I couldn't tell you the end or draw its shape between kind acceptance and striving, struggling, writhing, climbing learning, growing, discontent "do you feel this way, too, at endless war with longing itself?" but the birds and trees and ants and wind in their own marvelous design don't reply

maybe that right hand text can be made a little better? See:

The “you have seeing it all”, etc.

Improved. Still don't know what to do there. Maybe bring back a separate tab for inbox? wdyt?

…

or here :)

What do you think about making the “to me” similar to “for you”, “latest”, and “hot”, when it comes to font size, and the underline effect?

No because it's not a tab, it's a filter for the 'for you' tab. If we were to make it a tab it would have to be a different feed from the 'for you', but they overlap. I think it's ok distinct as it is.

Ah, I see, right. It makes sense.

I'm obsessed with Cowboy Hunters (the band) right now

Lots of slop PRs at $WORK. Trying Claude Tag, works well but token-billed, daily usage over 100€ for three sessions.

ouch, that's a month for virtually unlimited Codex. why so expensive?

Anthropic uses token billing for Claude Tag. But it’s different from CC - it’s an AI Colleague, so I’m asking PM and EM to talk to it instead of to me - accountability switches.

so it's expensive and you're left with dealing with the PRs others generate for you?

…

No, Claude Tag’s PRs are my team’s. Slop PRs come from outside of the team. Anyways, dozens PRs per day is draining energy. Don’t want to review anything anymore.

Last work week before long vacation.

How are things wrapping up?

All good! Thanks for asking

na, jó, az egyik legyen Windows 11-es, a másik Windows 10-es, csak a tudományos kíváncsiság kedvéért, elvileg az idén még ki tud tartani a Windows 10 komolyabb probléma nélkül

well, one should be Windows 11, the other Windows 10, just for scientific curiosity, in theory Windows 10 can still last this year without any serious problems

Body's awake, eyes are sleepy. Mind's awake, brain is sleepy.

After everything's awake and a good kind of sore. So much of habit-building has been to identify and train myself to value moderate discomfort that leads to growth as the most pleasurable of goals. Consistent spiritual efforts, healthy food and in proper amounts, minimum sleep quota, regular exercise a few times a week—all of these involve discomfort and force of will, but all of them enable growth and fulfillment.

This looks good actually. I like the monochrome look.

Im having fun. I really can't believe how well realtime collaboration works all considering the paths that are taken.

Watched Black Bird ep 1. Definitely lived up to the great reviews.
