I've linked up my blog (jeff-mitchell.dev) to textlog. I hope to use the two things together now to build a bit more of a writing habit. The 500 character increase is nice, room to breath but not an essay. Gotta build the muscles slowly :)

Currently it provides a single read-only tool that lets agents fetch all the data in Main about the user's home (details about the home itself, systems/appliances, documents, any repairs they've logged). I think it could get interesting once we provide additional tools for logging repairs, upgrades, and more into the home's memory.

"Sharing economy" once meant something. You'd Uber someone Bโ†’C when already driving Aโ†’Bโ†’Cโ†’D; you'd AirBNB your home when vacationing and stay at someone else's home who was doing the same. No driving just for Uber; no houses just for AirBNB. I fear this history will be forgotten.

My hometown is a popular tourist destination and we no longer can rent apartments on a year-basis. Everything is AirBnB and they only rent them to locals pretty expensive and off-season. As a local I can't live in my hometown anymore, so I'm staying in the mountains.

Choice is definitely a problem. We notice it when we go to our cabin, about a 2 1/2 hour drive away. The grocery store there targets #foodnotesfollow for its local community. It is beef-centric and often boxed foods -- which is not our diet. Access -- or lack thereof -- is the worst kind of problem. In China, I am practically independent of the government; I don't participate in any activities based on my status, such as formal work or online shopping. I've paid a heavy price for this; my choices have been severely limited, and my mobility has been significantly impaired. I can only access the internet through limited free Wi-Fi.

Made barbecue this evening. Lamb and chicken for meat, pepper and zucchini for veggies. Yummy! Kids loved it, the boy's sleeping now, the girl is reading a book, the wife's out with her girls, I'm with wine. Life's good.
