Huge items in the plus column for Quebec City: lots of music stores, and lots of shops where you can buy a really good chef's knife.

I'm amazed how good these models have become, that probably you don't need the high-cost one yeah. This resonated a lot. Iโ€™m glad I read it now, before going totally insane lol. But I disagree that itโ€™s just a glorified spreadsheet. The UI/UX matters, how you present the data, how they can change and so on, all of those things play a role. The good thing with AI is iteration is cheaper than ever, so you can experiment and process the results quickly. But yeah sometimes I just do things here because I just have to be doing something, I canโ€™t leave it alone.
Agreed. The "just" makes the statement sound dismissive, but I do agree with the underlying sentiment that most software boils down to CRUD apps that help people organize information and complete tasks more efficiently. I think the path to developer enlightenment is realizing this truth without despairing over it.

personal projects probably just arent the right knob if you want to get unpoor. if you want my honest advice i would recommend not showing hallucinate to potential employers, its landing page looks one-shot claude and is gpu heavy. but the others look very nice.

People post projects/tools/repos on lobsters all the time. From the about page, "as a rule of thumb, self-promo should be less than a quarter of one's stories and comments."

Went to a store yesterday, ๐Ÿค this close to buy a Delonghi Dedica but when I touched it, it felt so so rattly and cheap and it instantly turned me off. So I did some more research and now I think a used Gaggia Classic Pro will do. #coffeenotesfollow lovers, why is your hobby so hard to break into ๐Ÿ˜ช

Thatโ€™s awesome. Thereโ€™s an owl (donโ€™t know type) that hangs out at the playground in our neighborhood at night. First time I saw it, I stood frozen in place, amazed that it would be out in the open. Then as I walked away, I kept looking behind me, realizing Iโ€™d never hear it coming if it decided to engage ๐Ÿฆ‰
How do you define #AInotesfollow slop in relation to #codingnotesfollow? For me, it is how quickly you get to an unmaintainable state- the acceleration into something that becomes difficult to work. I talk more about it here: hellodavid.dev/blog/slop #Softwarenotesfollow #Developmentnotesfollow
Not that I think we're close to a canonical definition (as if we'll ever all agree on one) but my team has defacto adopted the definition of code that the developer responsible for it doesn't understand, approve of and essentially has now honestly reviewed. Basically anything which leads to cognitive debt.
I agree, I don't think that there will ever be one canonical definition, but I like this definition as well, as it places the onus on the actual person creating the slop. Thank you for sharing!
