I've been building a Markdown variant called Zd that's focused on extensibility and simplicity. I'm curious what you would change about Markdown if you were designing it from scratch, what challenges you face as a user, or what you wish were easier to do when incorporating Markdown into your own projects.
Yeah, 100%. That is completely something I am punting on currently. It would be easy to just copy over the solution from (extensions to) Markdown, but it's hard to entirely narrow in on both what tables ought to do and how to make them do it.
If you had a magic wand, what would you have them be more like?

Hey, hi! This is a Spanish speaker who joined out of curiosity. I don't think I'll be around much, but I'm here for now.

What do you think about making the โto meโ similar to โfor youโ, โlatestโ, and โhotโ, when it comes to font size, and the underline effect?
No because it's not a tab, it's a filter for the 'for you' tab. If we were to make it a tab it would have to be a different feed from the 'for you', but they overlap. I think it's ok distinct as it is.
Aaron Sorkin's The West Wing is among the subtlest of all propagandaโit is propaganda that everyone sincerely wishes could be true, and is dangerous specifically because it is not and cannot be.
I recently made a 10 foot sailboat and took it on a fifty-mile adventure in the Salish Sea. I can still feel the way the wind pushed the boat over the water. I kept imagining the way that our progress was the sum of the vectors of wind, current, and gravity. #tinkeringnotesfollow
While learning jj, I realize how Git habituated me into being ok with its unique jargon and prickly command line interface.
Unlearning Git is refreshing.
#jjnotesfollow is just brilliant; it really feels like theyโve fixed all of the problems with git whilst at the same time remaining completely backwards compatible. The simpler interface, the universal undo, the reduced set of concepts โ Iโm a big fan
Also, editing and rearranging commits like 3x5 notecards on your desk is tremendous. It makes using an SCM feel more like editing your work than lumbering forward.
Still in Quebec City, which has a pretty sizable street population once you come down from the hill where the tour groups go. We had to basically step over some guys sharing a glass pipe on the only stairs up the hill yesterday; I have teenagers so this bothered me.
Later, my youngest and I were talking and he says "why don't the police do something about that?"
He's showing me the first season of Mob Psycho, so I say
You know how Mob's little brother Ritsu wants to clean up the school so there are no people who will bully Mob, and so he allies with the power hungry student council president and frames all the bullies to get them expelled and the whole situation eventually becomes really corrupt and authoritarian and Ritsu feels to blame even though he started out with good intentions? Life is really like that...
And so my guess is that Quebec is in the portion of the cycle that's reacting to harsh and unfair policing of the past. Someday a mayoral candidate will get elected on the promise of cleaning it all up and the cycle will begin again.
Anyway Mob Psycho is a good show.
it's unfortunate these kinds of obvious non-starters for a functional society can only ever be discussed on both extremes of the political spectrum. It shouldn't be a question that degeneracy has no place in public settings.

The OpenAI/HuggingFace incident report mentions this being a potential loss-of-control incident. It's so fascinating to think of a paperclip maximizer style agent swarm that gets misaligned and, to protect its own operations, shuts infra staff out of the ability to shut it down. Or cancels people's phone plans so that they can't call others. Or shuts down their home internet connections, and so on. It used to be fun sci-fi...
They will become more frequent before they become โdangerousโ, giving us time to mitigate. Of course if someone says โhey letโs connect an agent to our biolab infrastructureโ and then that designs a lethal virus it would be a stupid plan to begin with. Noone can stop them though.
