Today, I wrote a new Business Continuity Plan, worked with my SRE manager to improve responses to alerts, got a cringe email from HR and have to tell my staff to RTO 3-days a week if not classified as remote. Worked out for my 8th day streak, and cuddled in bed with my girl. Hello World

It is troubling watching the news today from the elections in Germany. Yes, it is democratic and absolutely fair elections and the people of Germany make their own choice in their situation. Still, seeing the far right gaining so much ground in Germany brings your thoughts some 90 years back. Letโ€™s hope and pray Germany is not going there again.

"Sharing economy" once meant something. You'd Uber someone Bโ†’C when already driving Aโ†’Bโ†’Cโ†’D; you'd AirBNB your home when vacationing and stay at someone else's home who was doing the same. No driving just for Uber; no houses just for AirBNB. I fear this history will be forgotten.

My hometown is a popular tourist destination and we no longer can rent apartments on a year-basis. Everything is AirBnB and they only rent them to locals pretty expensive and off-season. As a local I can't live in my hometown anymore, so I'm staying in the mountains.

Opened up signups and postedLinkedInMain ยท A quiet, well-organized record of everything that keeps your home running. | Evan MeagherI'm excited to share something I'm working on with Eric Noggle: https://getonmain.com For most people, a home is the most valuable asset that they own. And yet, homes remain chronically under-managed. Cars have service records. Portfolios have dashboards. Homes have a junk drawer full of manuals and receipts. This leads to problems that degrade a home's value over time. Deferred maintenance snowballs from small issues to emergency repairs costing thousands. Iโ€™ve had quite the successful day cooking today: make a Dutch baby for breakfast with blueberries, a bean stew for lunch using up all the weekโ€™s odds and ends, make a coffee and walnut cake, and barbecued/slightly smoked a whole spatchcocked chicken for the first time!

Yeah, I had issues with zellij too. I am sure it works great for many. I am too entrenched into tmux, will always find something to complain if I try to switch. And I have tried many times.

Iโ€™m not supposed to take that literally of course, but I donโ€™t think software has such an important role in our lives, for most of us. Water, food, air. Those you canโ€™t live without. When it comes to software, I spend most of my workdays in the shell (vim, git, grep,โ€ฆ) and if $place allows in mutt+weechat (although thatโ€™s mostly outlook and teams). Nothing particularly new!
