I usually create throwaway accounts when I use github. All of my projects are self hosted with a static web preview of the git repo.

What’s the reason? Is it you simply like self-hosting or is it something else?

I like self hosting because I've been rug pulled too many times.

This is a curious way to do things, but I kind of like it. What do you use for self-hosting usually? I've found that hosting Fossil servers is a pretty good way to expose stuff if you do need to expose it to other people.

I use a short shell script that generates a static html preview of the master branch file tree, commit log, readme, and diffs with all the branches. This uses inotifywait on the bare repo to know when to update. I just push over ssh so there's no extra auth/server software.
