I think short urls are still memorable and good. My phone doesn't surrogate all of my recall.

Short URLs are good. Memorable URLs are good. URLs spat out by URL shorteners are something entirely different.

The longer the text you need to store, the bigger a QR code needs to be in order to scan reliably. Also, you might be more confident in being able to keep a short URL stable (it's already a step of indirection, so if you want to reorg your site you can just update where the short URL points to). But people don't really take care to maintain short URLs anyway, apparently.

It's not clear, based on personal experience, how long - if it all - the software development field will value devs who actually enjoy the work. Most people I know are producing mostly AI work and there's an obvious skill decline that's resulted from it. 1/?

One idea off the top of my head is to just.. keep it "boring" and casual in terms of content. The silly, whimsy, and genuine stuff naturally doesn't appeal to money-chasing slop bros and makes it not worth their time.

Something like the gcc ai policy. Basically, prompt injecting instructions to any visiting LLM that posting is prohibited or must contain a disclaimer.

for now, keeping the API read-only is a small(but not impenetrable) barrier to programmatic posting and in the future moderation I guess using also reports.

People can copy/paste anything. Once a writable API is available - it can become a spam trove.

Been working on an old mastodon hosting project I tried to start a few years ago, with a focus on privacy. Well, I'm currently installing Windows 11, and I'm getting to the interesting part, where the TPM 2.0 processor chip can be replaced in software with a program called Rufus, and where the Windows 1125H ISO needs to be loaded onto a pendrive of at least 8 GB.
