Not insane at all. People should build their own instead of using other people's agents. It's easy to do and the results can be great for you. I've built several; one that is effectively "stuck" in Kakoune: youtube.com/โฆ/playlistYouTubeLLMs stuck in Kakoune

Yeah. It's a very large project with lots of dependencies. <The system prompt is long and wastes tokens. If you have ideas for tools (or automations like the agents.sh "loop" I wrote) it's easier if you understand the harness.

if the capabilities consistently outspeed the development of safety measures, and if the private arms race logic continues, i dont think this is a good spot to be in long term

He's not anti-tech, he's anti big-company-culture-capture. Really insightful for being written in 1998. What I appreciate is he looks at a very wide view of tech, not just modern silicone.

Made another important decision to remove all counters โ notes, replies, following, followers โ from both people and hashtags, so you focus on the content not the numbers. It was creating competition which feeds the dopamine system, which we have exhausted and try to avoid. #meta

For 30 years, productivity sky-rocketed with the advancement of automation and computing. Meanwhile, a decline in longevity was observed, correlated to sleep depravation. Productivity improvement goes to the owners class' pockets, sleep benefits the workers health.
For 30 years, productivity skyrocketed through automation, yet longevity plummeted as a direct result of sleep deprivation. While these gains accrue to the owner class, sleep remains an undervalued element of the worker's health. We are trading life expectancy for chump change.

a decline in the improvement of life expectancy isn't the same as a decline in life expectancy, it's just that it's improving less fast now, we might be reaching biological limits however?

We tought for years that there was a biological ceiling for sprinters or marathon runners for example, with research backing it, but every one record was shattered. I tend to be cautious of biological explanations.
