i dont think its all talk, these are smart people that have been in ai since the 2000s, and they raise good points. current incentive structures are very dangerous long term
they too have every incentive to exaggerate because they are selling safety and/or books on the topic. I donโt believe we wonโt see it coming. Any issues that will manifest will be very visible and weโll have plenty of time to mitigate their impact.
they could be making a lot more money by just working at ai firms i fear. the thing that got me worried the hacking incidents lately, huggingface etc.
if the capabilities consistently outspeed the development of safety measures, and if the private arms race logic continues, i dont think this is a good spot to be in long term
Most of programs use key chords, like Cmd-Shift-G, Ctrl-Alt-N and so on, you need to remember and press awkwardly several keys at once.
#Emacsnotesfollow uses key sequences, C-c then k then p then l.
If I forget after C-c k p then press C-h and help appears.
Any runners on here? I mostly consider myself a trail runner, but of course train on roads, too. Good for 1โ2 races/year, more into running as a practice, a way to manage stress and stay fit.
Going to document some approaches to produce data visualizations using ari via DuckDB.
Donโt know why it didnโt occur to me earlier, that there would be some solid community extensions for #dataviznotesfollow in DuckDB.
I was trying to use an approach that relies on community extensions, but installing them is proving finicky.
Going to consider an approach that requires less futzing.
LinkedIn post: "Git 3.0 is going to be a bigger change than the version number suggests."
Proceeds to list breaking changes, congruent with a major version number change.
having just spent a week camper-travelling Norway, hiking mountains and glaciers, swimming in fjords really put some things into perspective for me - I should take more vacations
Having a little difficulty seeing how long this service will exist. People are terrible. Sooner or later it will be found and ruined.

Yup. I have long change my philosophy on things like these: just live the day. :-)
Man, I LOVE naps! In fact, I mostly subsist on four or five 1-1/2 hour naps each day instead of one long over-night sleep period these days. I didn't set out to have a #polyphasicnotesfollow sleep schedule, but here I am. :-)
Doing that would trigger my #manianotesfollow really quick, even not having a full night sleep puts me in the danger zone immediately. #bipolarnotesfollow
Theyโre owned by Microsoft, of all companies. If AI hyperproductivity is real at scale, then why canโt the game come out next year? Next month?
