Possible to make the email portion a bit less vendor agnostic? For those of us using Sendgrid, or Cloudflare for transactional emails, that is.

Implemented a db /dump.zip - it contains all the data needed if you want to reconstruct a frozen view of the entire site - but without exposing any sensitive information. It updates daily and should address some of the concerns regarding being a "silo".

pondering how are we going to grow when we don't have engagement-loop trickery mechanisms, but at the same time, that's the entire premise. It's going to be tough, hopefully some influencer out there picks up on this site and promotes it themselves ;p

You mean federated. I did a small investigation, it's not impossible but not sure if it's worth it. It is a huge architectural change and would require a ton of maintainance, and our current scale doesn't justify it. I feel the centralized character has some charm also.
That's why one leases a VPS, or runs isolated VMs, so that you can trust it. ;-)
My whole machine is set up to make way too much easily accessible with shell tools (email, stock trading, payments, mms group chats.) I can't trust it.
Yup, I am moving them out of it. It might take a while, but eventually should be OK. All good, hopefully now with a password I will not have much use for them any more.
Yeah it's happening to people. It's because the email contains a link and we don't have the reputation yet. Not sure what to do, have you tried reporting it as 'Not spam' in your client? Maybe if enough people do that it will fix. Gmail works ok.

Found the use for it just now. At work I get my personal emails on my mobile device, but I am accessing textlog on the desktop. Getting a magic link on my mobile doesn't help me at all getting logged in on desktop. Enter the old, venerable, password.
Email magic link is enough for me, but it is good to have a second option. Thanks mate! 🙏🏻

Password login implemented, can be enabled from /account/security cc
Your email, and the magic link, are your password. First time you encounter this approach? It is very common with many open source apps.

I think one thing could be done in post text-area, that hashtags and mentions should be suggested if user types '#' or '@' and then starts typing. Although I know this would be already in the list. Right 8)
