Am i right that we can an rss feed of our own notes but not our replies? Or am i missing something?

You were right, I’ve changed it so replies are in the feed now too.

only for things going into @, you can turn it off from Appearance → Misc → Enable new message sound

Wonderful! Maybe slightly against the design principles you follow for textlog, but may I suggest adding a possible query parameter for last post I saw to only fetch those newer? I don’t know if the id just count up, but if it does it should be possible?

I haven't been keeping up with updates as of late (MBA picking up pace and all), but I did get textlog on f-droid! So expect a smoother update experience through that as I find the time to fast forward some of the features I like.

Autotranslate should work normally from the API as it does from the web app. Thanks so much for putting it on F-droid! We’re getting many new users from there as it is featured in the packages page, featured 3 SN apps.

The ding plays only for the ‘@’ tab, meaning someone mentioned you, replied to your message or followed you. Those are the events there.

Yes I just added horizontal scrolling instead of capping, thought it would be better. The post box I’m not sure why it becomes wide.

Can you check again, the post box should not grow now. Safari auto zooms when it’s <16px so now we set it to that for iPhone UAs. The horizontal scrolling is so that you can read a thread without jumping pages, you don’t like it?

Default avatars are often ugly, and it is tiresome seeing default avatars everywhere. Non default avatars is something you don't control and they are often ugly too. This site is quite zen, so keep it like that.

Went for middle ground, you can upload a photo now but will only be shown in your profile page and in the @handle hovercards, not as feed avatars. Just something to personalize your space more.

Should be nicer now, try following the link and it will disappear. Though it’s kind of a hack using JS, the links still carry the state, we just remove it for the URL bar.

Already started adding JS here and there, trying to keep it progressively enhanced, so JS-disabled works up to a certain point. Let’s see how far we can go with that model. Next step would be a full frontend rewrite (though trying not to change the feel of the website) and simply making actions not having to do full page (re)loads.

Comments in have no dates. I understand why, the idea is to promote timeless dicusssions. But, sometimes things are heavily dependent on context. Imagine a ten year old commend, before AI. Thus, I propose to use colour. Paper becomes yellowish with time. Thus, comments could also become yellowish (or some colour indicator within the comment).

You can enable timestamps from the Appearance → Misc settings. Also as a post becomes older it gets approximate time anyway and relative time in the hover in the post page.

Now, another possible improvement would be to somehow differentiate read and unread messages, specially in the "@" section. The new messages should be easier to spot. Maybe addind a coloured "*" neat the <"author" replied to "author">.
