Yeah it's happening to people. It's because the email contains a link and we don't have the reputation yet. Not sure what to do, have you tried reporting it as 'Not spam' in your client? Maybe if enough people do that it will fix. Gmail works ok.

The funny thing is that in the UK, we don't really use the em dash anyway. We use the hyphen (I guess en dash?) with a space each side. So the em dash has always looked a bit odd to us... 😊

I think a trusted piece of software such as your operating system should be in charge of managing permissions. For example, I believe with Wayland on gnome you no longer need to promise you aren't secretly taking screenshots of the whole monitor and shipping it somewhere because to do that Wayland requires you to get user permission.

I was thinking along the same line, but then if it is not a gated system - there’s always ways for software to sidestep these - just going down to a lower level. The other issue I have is if the system or software asks or notifies all the time - for every tiny user action!

I have tiktok and instagram on this phone and both of them have no notification permissions. I'd rather miss all notifications for these apps than be bothered unnecessarily. it can wait until I open the app 🤣 yes, it should be gated in the sense studying locally needs to be root, not in the sense that the apple app store or Google play store reviewers need to review each update.

I'm 55 and recently self-diagnosed as "fairly ASD with some ADHD" after watching a lot of youtube videos. It's been immensely helpful (to the point of bringing me to tears sometimes) in understanding the struggles I had when I was younger. It's also been very helpful in understanding what I can do currently to support myself and work with my brain instead of against it.

I'm glad it was useful to you. This process of becoming aware of our autism is not easy. It is liberating, but it is also difficult, at the same time. I watched a lot of videos too, but then I visited a couple psiquiatrists and a psycologist (I had other problems too), just to be sure. What is your opinion about the ASD youtube landscape? I think that there are a few very good channels, but there is lot of noise too. I see some danger there.

Yeah I agree that there are many ASD channels on YT of varying qualities. I only follow a few. Some of my favorites (very roughly in order):
  • @MomontheSpectrum
  • @imautisticnowwhat
  • @elenacarr0ll -- kinda more emotive, but I find that helpful sometimes
  • @autismfromtheInside -- no longer posts (burned out)
I think for now being self diagnosed is enough for me. Just knowing that I'm neurodivergent has been helpful for me to be kind to my own mind.

Personally, I think I found good framework/vocabulary to help with meditation in some discussion by Jiddu Krishnamurti. Here is one in which he works it out with kids www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Yv0BKtgqpQYouTubeJ. Krishnamurti - Rishi Valley 1978 - School Discussion (Students) 3 - Can you... There was a short, to the point lecture where he basically walks you through observing thought, which profoundly changed how I approach meditation but I can't find it for the life of me!

Arch Linux with KDE. I like that Arch comes with nothing and is pretty vanilla. No bloat, and customisable. No major upgrades where 5 things break at once. Install once, and it's fine until the device has to be replaced. Only then usually do a fresh install. It's up to date, still pretty boring, and you learn a bit in the process.

i distro hoped a lot. Finally i found my cozy home with debian with kde. 3 years still running without a problem all the software i use works perfectly and the games run smoothly.
