ฐ:Catastrophic interference is also a favorite Wikipedia page and concept. The thing is, it doesnโt only happen to artificial neural networks, Iโve had it happen to me a few times. Especially with pin numbers, newer pins overwriting old ones and Iโm always scared when Iโm having hard time remembering something that this catastrophic interference applied and now the information is gone from my brain.

Considering how absolutely barren it seems out there in terms of C jobs versus C++ jobs, I can barely believe it. What do you work on?

Some specialized censors used in automated manufacturing. It's pretty cool, I look forward to coming into the office almost every day. I've worked for a few f500 companies and took a pay cut to come here. A bunch of people from my college robotics club work here too.

That sounds really cool. Above all I really like hearing that someone enjoys their work and likes showing up for it. I've had that feeling on a few contracts and it's great. Looking to get into embedded myself, since it seems that's where you get to have all the fun writing C. :)

#cnotesfollow has been such a pleasure. Havenโt tried Odin, but was using #zignotesfollow for a while, and I just found myself pulled back to C. A minimal sharp tool. Runs anywhere. Can actually write a compiler for it. Short bootstrap chain from hex0. Does anybody care about these things (anymore)?

Support everywhere (in every way) was key to me starting to use C again. It's nice to not have to worry about the language you use being left out somewhere, a non-starter somewhere else and having to mentally translate it to something else (Zig/Odin in a debugger -> C).

This is a very silly thing to be doing in 2026, but I finally tried some Quake 1 recently. Pretty cool, it's amazing how much it really does just end up feeling like Doom in 3D.

ooh maybe I revive hallucinate.site and add this feature but instead of being able to modify everything it would be limited to adding features to the game/world. And itโs the perfect domain, a site thatโs been entirely mostly hallucinated.

I needed to process 20,000 json files & 20,000 JXL files. I'm pulling together a website from them all. Anyway, started with emacs elisp to handle it all, just because I've not done that before. Went kinda ok, and I'm gonna use org-mode to export it all to a website (done that bit loads of times before).
In the end, I ended up breaking out my C programming skills (late 80s->nowish). It was a delight. Nothing more refreshing than writing raw code, that doesn't rely on 3rd party code/libs. #prognotesfollow
Onboarded on Claude Team with Unlimited credit usage. In the first day, subscription limits were hit and then it silently went on spending 530 EUR in credits before I noticed.

Which is why u canโt compete making alternative coding agents, their own subscriptions are much cheaper, but why they do it on their own Teams package is weird. Maybe targetting companies they feel they can pay.

creator of textlog:Yes, that's for enterprises, that want SSO, governance, budgeting, data protection, etc etc. For C-level they are interested in "how much do we pay for AI", and with personal subscriptions you can't answer => can't manage it. This 530 EUR is the price for that learning.
