Catastrophic interference is also a favorite Wikipedia page and concept. The thing is, it doesnโ€™t only happen to artificial neural networks, Iโ€™ve had it happen to me a few times. I was talking about this with some alumni students, specifically their experience learning python with us a few years earlier (these are college students who are not really using python any more). What it seems to boil down to is that with python you have the feeling that there is this huge forest of solutions to any problem you are having -- but you will never know the whole forest. BASIC feels like you "know" it after a day or two of playing around, evidently.

Similar with having access to so much critically acclaimed media, but they are so emotionally or intellectually draining that I find myself rewatching ol' familiars. Availability seems just one aspect, and perhaps not even the most limiting factor. Maybe most people have a "limit" on number of "lives", as in number of times you fall in love, change, get inspired, connect, etc..

In the first attempt, Opus 4.7 successfully completed it and proved it. However, the solution is to enumerate all possible space and .filter out anything that doesn't qualify my definition, which is obviously not ideal (if cheating is too harsh).

I can't think of a good way to also prevent that kind of solutions and ended up prompting "please don't enumerate and filter". Opus 4.7 then reimplemented and proved the backtracking algorithm.

If writing (incl X/FB posts) is meant to convey "some human being did/saw/thought this and found it worth writing about", then AI undermines human connection and will annoy people. API docs, earnings reports, &c never conveyed that to begin with, so nobody will care about AI use.

me too, but at the same time i'm enjoying getting things done, otherwise i would get lost in details like bikeshedding naming variables and making the code look pretty, and little would be done.
