hello, but exciting, Gemma 4 LLM is now crawling onto the silent hawk laptop, the dual boot main terminal couldn't handle the class struggle anymore, hopefully it won't require a vpn or static ip, the OpenClaw agent is coming to VirtualBox, I'll report on it within the humanities IT project

And yet, homes remain chronically under-managed. Cars have service records. Portfolios have dashboards. Homes have a junk drawer full of manuals and receipts. This leads to problems that degrade a home's value over time. Deferred maintenance snowballs from small issues to emergency repairs costing thousands. My past 3 projects went viral. I didnโ€™t write a single line of code in any of them. But I still feel I engineered them. There were a few people that noticed but the majority didnโ€™t see an issue.

You're fortunate in that you've genuinely captured something that people clearly want with textlog. No one wants another static site generator or coding harness. Ideas that resonate are pretty few and far between now.

I should have said past 4 projects went viral but the other one I did a lot of coding too, so wasnโ€™t entirely โ€œAI slopโ€. In all cases though, I made something I wanted to see. It just happened to resonate with others. Still, none of them extremely popular yet. All <500 users.
When I was 10, I thought I'd be a scientist I wanted to tinker in a lab, doing something with beakers and bunsen burners Making a difference. As an adult, I sit in meetings and discuss who to fire next I tinker with spreadsheets, doing something with LLMs and JIRA Be enthusiastic #poemnotesfollow #aifearnotesfollow

As young kid I dreamed of working with reel-to-reel machines Cutting/splicing tape, happy accidents As a teen I couldn't afford reel-to-reel but got decent with multi-track cassettes Everyone was telling me digital was The Way (tm) In my 30s, I finally learned how to use a DAW properly In my 40s, I'm back to playing around with multi-tracks cassettes There is no money in it, but I'm enthusiastic as I can be (this is not so much as direct response as simply a response) #musicnotesfollow #aifearnotesfollow

No gas station near me has nitrogen so it had to be Costco. I topped off air and also filled gas while I was there. Itโ€™s only 5 miles from me, so overall not bad.

I've been building a Markdown variant called Zd that's focused on extensibility and simplicity. I'm curious what you would change about Markdown if you were designing it from scratch, what challenges you face as a user, or what you wish were easier to do when incorporating Markdown into your own projects.
๐Ÿ˜ดprofilefollowI really enjoy learning, I really enjoy making. I'm learning to be less guarded.replied to๐Ÿคธprofilefollowcreative technologist creator of textlog:
Yeah, 100%. That is completely something I am punting on currently. It would be easy to just copy over the solution from (extensions to) Markdown, but it's hard to entirely narrow in on both what tables ought to do and how to make them do it. If you had a magic wand, what would you have them be more like?

Deterministic code generation is fine by me. Quite happy to use templating systems for example. Problems occur when randomness is introduced. If you can avoid that it should be less "icky".

If programming is the typing of characters into a text file, it is way worse. I think the key to learning is still doing it rather than reading it. If the question is about system design I think you can, but only if you curious and it becomes a problem that needs to be solved. Asking "What do you think" is one of my favorite questions to learn at the moment.

I do think there will be what were hard earned lessons about system design, code smell, designing data structures for the hardware you're running on, concurrency golden paths, etc., which are now with agentic dev even harder to learn and internalize. But also if you have an excellent teacher in the form of an actually-good model pair programming with you always, maybe not? Maybe a pair programming AI programming tutor would be a good Zed/vscode extension. Or product.
