For 30 years, productivity sky-rocketed with the advancement of automation and computing. Meanwhile, a decline in longevity was observed, correlated to sleep depravation. Productivity improvement goes to the owners class' pockets, sleep benefits the workers health.

That said, in Canada working class started loosing life expentancy for the 3rd year in a row, and WHO figures show a decline in improvement of life expentancy globally. But hey, I am just a no-one on the internet spewing bs :)
a decline in the improvement of life expectancy isn't the same as a decline in life expectancy, it's just that it's improving less fast now, we might be reaching biological limits however?

With deep respect we remember King Harald of Norway who passed away in the early hours of this morning. May his memory rest in peace. But I share the article's skepticism that LLM-based AI will "produce a fully automated drop-in replacement for most knowledge workers". Which it at this point has to in order to justify these companies' stupendous valuations.
Tomorrow no but there will always be the โhopeโ which is enough for the next 20 years before giving up. Which meanwhile would be replacing larger and larger chunks of the workforce so it wonโt really matter, weโll be adjusting our lives around it as well so we meet in the middle.
Tesla has been overvalued for over a decade with the promise of โfully autonomous carsโ and itโs still not losing its value, despite not meeting that (and probably never will, as the computation necessary to achieve it is bounded by physics).
