No, doesn’t make a difference. Mostly helpful for communicating the situation but didn’t change how I act or how I see myself. Ymmv however, especially if you think it will then it might, but I doubt it.

In my case it was very useful. Since Covid-19, and fatherhood in general (I'm 45), I went thorough a series of burnouts, which were getting worse. The diagnosis gave me an answer to the question, "why can't I handle the pressure"? Being autistic, I tend to need good theoretical frameworks to make sense of my life. Thinks that I don't control or understand, are a source of anxiety. As a consequence, the diagnosis gave me the framework and helped me accept that my career path had do change.

Now, I still have the same problems as before, but now they don't blow out of proportion. When I don't feel well I tell myself, this is my autism, I need time alone, I need to recover, and thus I don't get the extra anxiety. Also, now I don't try to fight my limitations. So, nothing changes, but everything changes a little bit.

I assume this is not original at all at this point - but (extreme) DRY is not a good practice. My experience is that a bit of copying yourself and your colleagues in the code base often make maintenance of the code base easier.

Planning to add functionality later without breaking code? Stop it! That should break code! Catastrophic interference is also a favorite Wikipedia page and concept. The thing is, it doesn’t only happen to artificial neural networks, I’ve had it happen to me a few times. Especially with pin numbers, newer pins overwriting old ones and I’m always scared when I’m having hard time remembering something that this catastrophic interference applied and now the information is gone from my brain.

I am not a musician, so I lack the jargon to properly explain what I mean. I used AI for creative writing (nothing too fancy, TTRPG). There, the broader the dice roll, the more generic and uninteresting the results. Slop, if you will. It was surprisingly good to build up on ideas I had however. I imagine muisic also has building blocks. Melodies, instruments, mixing, etc. AI can perhaps be used in a similar fashion there.

I heard a perspective I sort of like: if AI is a tool then acceptable AI use is, more or less, defined as "when my audience no longer notices or cares". It's dynamic like that. Bad photoshop is detectable and annoying, so are overusing presets. Your artistry needs to expand to meet the tool. I don't know if I 100% like that or agree. The two main things I use are the duckdb support and of course the built-in resty client. Not needing to shell out to curl just makes life easier. I should probably add that I’m mainly prototyping and explore things that later eventually will be developed further by others in our organization, so using array langs where I don’t need to type a lot is a big plus for me:) I’ll let you know if I need anything!

Thanks, that’s helpful. Those are the two things I use the most, too. One development tool I use frequently is the util.ac function (for “auto-complete”) that takes a glob pattern and returns all the globals whose names match. I didn’t want to make people have to define or update their Goal lib path, so in recent versions of ari I’ve been packaging all of the Goal libs and ari's into a libs FS that you can use with import.

I loved the book and I’m always fearful when a movie script is developed and a movie produced, so my relief after I saw the movie was immense. I too feel they’ve cut-out some bits, but the main thing that a book almost always takes my breath away with is fueling my imagination. A movie would (possibly) never nail that aspect.

If there’s one thing Andy Weir can’t be critiqued on then it’s not fully justifying all of the science.
