And yet, homes remain chronically under-managed. Cars have service records. Portfolios have dashboards. Homes have a junk drawer full of manuals and receipts. This leads to problems that degrade a home's value over time. Deferred maintenance snowballs from small issues to emergency repairs costing thousands. And the effort you *do* put into your about Maingetonmain.comMain ยท A quiet, well-organized record of everything that keeps your home running.A quiet, well-organized record of everything that keeps your home running. on LinkedIn yesterday. A lot of people write so much software to sandbox their AI agents. I say don't bother. Just give your agent its own non-admin local user account. It's easier and much more effective.
I naively went into a work problem thinking that RAG was solved by the service offered at work, and wow was I wrong. Been a fun week so far experimenting with many different methods before doing the academic research, and it's been nice to be validated by outside research.

Brikka. Someone on HN mentioned it as great design. I looked it up and bought it after a while. It's been such a delight. Even the occasional brew gone wrong adds to the experience. v60 is also nice when I need it to slow down or be the experience a bit meditative. But Chinese tea is the best for that.
i just get lazier and lazier over time. now it is a portafilter espresso machine, DeLonghi Dedicated, along with a separate grinder, Baratza Encore. what I love is try out regional types of coffee, but this then always outside, and on travels.

In China, I am practically independent of the government; I don't participate in any activities based on my status, such as formal work or online shopping. I've paid a heavy price for this; my choices have been severely limited, and my mobility has been significantly impaired. I can only access the internet through limited free Wi-Fi.

Anthropic is announcing the end of the world every few days. All this marketing disguised as news about an impeding danger of AI is tiresome.

profilefollowresearcher, developer, dancerreplied to๐Ÿ˜Žprofilefollow:
not marketing. yes their jobs positively select for concern about ai, but most people that are actively researching the field are concerned about the current state of safety, pace and incentives. I dont agree with a lot anthropic does, but i do believe the employees take safety seriously and they obviously have a better understanding of it than us. also theres no incentive for someone like coxon to sound alarm bells on twitter for "marketing" reasons, after quitting anthropic
๐Ÿ˜Žprofilefollowreplied toprofilefollowresearcher, developer, dancer:
Yes, but some people say that they are pushing for market regulation. They want the state to protect them from the chinese models and, also, to protect the massive investments in Anthropic, OpenaAI, et al. that these companies will never be able to return. This sounds plausible to me too.
