textlog

about

The quieter social microblogging platform.

textlog is a simple social text log: write short notes, follow people and hashtags, and join conversations without turning every thought into a performance.

Notes are limited to 500 characters. The constraint keeps them quick to write and read, making room for one thought at a time.

Small by design

textlog is built around words: notes, people, hashtags, and conversations. It is intentionally small, straightforward, and easy to follow. There are no engagement tricks or pressure to build an audience.

Your profile and notes are public. Joining is free, and you can download or delete your account data whenever you like. If you feel like it, you can also donate to support the service.

textlog collective is fiscally hosted by Open Source Europe. Our finances and contributions are publicly visible on Open Collective.

A lot of tech folks resist documentation because they think it provides them with job security. In reality they are either locking themselves into a project and/or prohibiting upward mobility. I don't want to work with folks who don't document.

Med dyp respekt minnes vi kong Harald av Norge som gikk bort i morgentimene i dag. Fred over hans minne. With deep respect we remember King Harald of Norway who passed away in the early hours of this morning. May his memory rest in peace. Our thoughts are with those who have lost a husband, those who have lost a father and father-in-law, children who have lost a grandfather. And an entire country that has lost a king. last time i checked cbd was just not psychoactive at all no?
I just took a look on it yesterday and seems like the stimulant effect is there, so seems like at this point there are mix results on if it actually helps with anxiety and sleep issues. For me personally seems to work just fine but Im not 100% sure how much does it actually does something for me or is just a placebo effect. My thinking is that if I do it from time to time, I can let my body get use to the feeling of a sleep schedule without create dependency on external melatonin dosis or CBD.

I'm making a Kakoune version of this for sure.
Ah, no, I meant meow, the Kakoune-inspired emacs plugin.
You have #kakounenotesenter to follow, there is no need. I tried Emacs out a while ago to see whether it could replace Kakoune (I wanted to draw arbitrary stuff like images, 3D views, etc., in the editor) but honestly, Kakoune makes everything so easy to integrate that it was hard for it to compete.

what is a refinement? honest question - I'm restructuring our refinements now. Like having group of people discussing 5 items in an hour gives little chances any one of them will be addressed properly, unless they are trivial.
#AInotesenter to follow brings so many issues. It really accelerates. Not only the good parts but also the bad parts. Combine this with a product person that doesn't even know what a refinement is. I'm 41, maybe I'll study to pivot, maybe I'll get into trading. I can't handle it anymore.

Added #meta tag — use it whenever you want to talk about the site itself, and these posts will not show up in all, any or the post’s page. Only those that follow the tag or the person will see these posts in my feed or in post pages. This is to keep the site clear of meta discussions which dominated a lot at this early stage and I think were annoying to many people. So this is the last meta without the #meta tag you’ll see unless u follow. I’ll try to tag every post I find.

The longer the text you need to store, the bigger a QR code needs to be in order to scan reliably. Also, you might be more confident in being able to keep a short URL stable (it's already a step of indirection, so if you want to reorg your site you can just update where the short URL points to). But people don't really take care to maintain short URLs anyway, apparently.
