Since it's implemented in Go, it's straightforward to extend with anything from Go's standard library (or third-party ecosystem) that isn't already incorporated. If you haven't used an array language before, then you get the added bonus of learning a ton about an interesting, powerful area of programming.

I sometimes use V scriptGitHubv/doc/docs.md at master · vlang/vSimple, fast, safe, compiled language for developing maintainable software. Compiles itself in <1s with zero library dependencies. Supports automatic C => V translation. https://vlang.io - vl..., but I use V-lang as well. It is kind-of interpreted. I’ve never heard of rye. Looks nice.

It does not, but fakes it well, since it is fast and compares built binary with script mtime to automatically recompile. The downside of using it is that you end up with a binary, but the upside is that it is blazing fast.

It seems this year is when big budget LLM players overtake independent academic mathematicians, in speed at least. The Jacobian conjecture, a lot of Erdos problems, now even the Navier Stokes millenium problem. Solved due to new model releases, all within this summer.

in math it can definitely prove statements that havent been proven before. I dont think thats the big thing though since it also writes sentences nobody has ever written before and in software it can write programs that havent been written before. Its just that the speed and scalability that has overtaken human mathematicians and programmers

I use Ubuntu with the default Gnome Desktop. I like it a lot and it just works. I've been using it since the beginning. It is not perfect (what distro is?) but it works fine for me.

Arch, because I feel you cannot use Linux without knowing how it works, and sway for window manager because it is highly stable, wholly keyboard driven, and tiling

Arch Linux with KDE. I like that Arch comes with nothing and is pretty vanilla. No bloat, and customisable. No major upgrades where 5 things break at once. Install once, and it's fine until the device has to be replaced. Only then usually do a fresh install. It's up to date, still pretty boring, and you learn a bit in the process.

i distro hoped a lot. Finally i found my cozy home with debian with kde. 3 years still running without a problem all the software i use works perfectly and the games run smoothly.

In my case it was very useful. Since Covid-19, and fatherhood in general (I'm 45), I went thorough a series of burnouts, which were getting worse. The diagnosis gave me an answer to the question, "why can't I handle the pressure"? Being autistic, I tend to need good theoretical frameworks to make sense of my life. Thinks that I don't control or understand, are a source of anxiety. As a consequence, the diagnosis gave me the framework and helped me accept that my career path had do change.

Now, I still have the same problems as before, but now they don't blow out of proportion. When I don't feel well I tell myself, this is my autism, I need time alone, I need to recover, and thus I don't get the extra anxiety. Also, now I don't try to fight my limitations. So, nothing changes, but everything changes a little bit.

I'm 55 and recently self-diagnosed as "fairly ASD with some ADHD" after watching a lot of youtube videos. It's been immensely helpful (to the point of bringing me to tears sometimes) in understanding the struggles I had when I was younger. It's also been very helpful in understanding what I can do currently to support myself and work with my brain instead of against it.

I'm glad it was useful to you. This process of becoming aware of our autism is not easy. It is liberating, but it is also difficult, at the same time. I watched a lot of videos too, but then I visited a couple psiquiatrists and a psycologist (I had other problems too), just to be sure. What is your opinion about the ASD youtube landscape? I think that there are a few very good channels, but there is lot of noise too. I see some danger there.

Yeah I agree that there are many ASD channels on YT of varying qualities. I only follow a few. Some of my favorites (very roughly in order):
  • @MomontheSpectrum
  • @imautisticnowwhat
  • @elenacarr0ll -- kinda more emotive, but I find that helpful sometimes
  • @autismfromtheInside -- no longer posts (burned out)
I think for now being self diagnosed is enough for me. Just knowing that I'm neurodivergent has been helpful for me to be kind to my own mind.

I assume that in the Anglo-Saxon world people look into each other's eyes (or believe they do), whereas here, in Spain, we tend to shift our gaze more, from the listener's face to the surroundings, etc. I don't know; it's possible. I find it difficult to find good references online. Most of the ones I come across compare East Asia with the Anglo-Saxon world.

Is it eye contact or is it looking at the face, in general? I never thought I had a problem in this department unter I started reading about ASD. Do people look at the eyes like when they make a toast? It feels unnatural to mee. My observation is that people look at the face, in general, without focusing on the eyes exactly, except for short intervals. It would seem strange to me if someone fixated on my eyes this way and I don't think that people do like that.

Definitely people here do intense full locked eye contact, which I can’t do, unless I’m attracted to the person as I said. Even then I’ll move a bit around the face because it’s uncomfortable even then. But others just lock in completely I see them doing it.

OK. I guess that Greece may be similar to Spain. I feel comfortable hanging with greeks, in Greece and elswhere. Then, if I don't look at the eyes, but others do. I guess that I'm very good at masking that I don't look at the eyes. I never got a comment related to eye contact.

I don’t think it’s something people notice immediately and consciously think this is wrong to make a comment, they will probably just not feel the same connection or feel something is off about you in general or think that you’re busy thinking other things. It’s not the only case to not make eye contact with someone, you might just not like them. That’s probably what they will sense.

Ah I understand now. No I’m not passing the current tags in the prompt, but we have a tag aliases system in case we want to group tags with similar meaning. For example I’ve grouped into #programmingnotesfollow also #codingnotesfollow #devnotesfollow #SoftwareEngineeringnotesfollow — we also use WordNet to canonicalize tag names, stuff like #tagsnotesfollow become #tag or #philosophicalnotesfollow becomes #philosophynotesfollow.

personal projects probably just arent the right knob if you want to get unpoor. if you want my honest advice i would recommend not showing hallucinate to potential employers, its landing page looks one-shot claude and is gpu heavy. but the others look very nice.

You can export your data, and I'm considering federation/replication but it would become an order of magnitude more complicated. A lot of effort maintaining that part instead of improving the actual service. It's something for the future, once the core semantics are in place.
