You have , there is no need. I tried Emacs out a while ago to see whether it could replace Kakoune (I wanted to draw arbitrary stuff like images, 3D views, etc., in the editor) but honestly, Kakoune makes everything so easy to integrate that it was hard for it to compete.

Visiting, for the first time. It's about a 9 hour drive from home so we've never made the trip, but so worth it. Went to Ile d'Orleans yesterday, just... so quiet and beautiful. I assume this is not original at all at this point - but (extreme) DRY is not a good practice. My experience is that a bit of copying yourself and your colleagues in the code base often make maintenance of the code base easier.

I think DRY should just die. It lacks any of the nuance of why copying code is a bad idea. I prefer thinking about a single source of truth and whether two pieces of code are semantically related rather than just happen to look similar. I also think identifying such similarities is hard without first seeing the repetition in a few instances and it is much better to add another copy than introduce the wrong abstraction; unless it’s really obvious then just wait for more repetitions first.

Need to find something else to do as a side project to textlog. 😕 Thinking of a code editor that’s focused on the new agentic workflows, so you have it on the side regardless of your agent tools and it monitors the git diff and offers a nice panorama view. I’ve done an extension for VSCode similar to this idea.

Well, done, Claude did while I drove a car. It even added save/open file from the server (stored in SQLite). Deployed on my homelab server.
