at one point I jokingly thought, maybe I should manually write my resume in crayon forcing me to use less words and use simple sentences, then scan it or capture the image and just send a png.

I had a similar fear using career-ops, but I use it as a note taking app/tracker/ and cover letter spot while I apply at very low volumes. I can see how much can go wrong it you were to shotgun a billion apps through it though.

Need to find something else to do as a side project to textlog. ๐Ÿ˜• Thinking of a code editor thatโ€™s focused on the new agentic workflows, so you have it on the side regardless of your agent tools and it monitors the git diff and offers a nice panorama view. Iโ€™ve done an extension for VSCode similar to this idea.

I think a lot of the pull around Omarchy is you get a riced desktop out of the box? Personally, I wouldn't really consider it for a number of reasons but I do appreciate a nice looking desktop. If you want something similarly pretty but a bit more normal and less monolithic (who needs a whole 'distro' for what Omarchy provides anyway?) approach then I'd suggest Niri + Noctalia.

The longer the text you need to store, the bigger a QR code needs to be in order to scan reliably. Also, you might be more confident in being able to keep a short URL stable (it's already a step of indirection, so if you want to reorg your site you can just update where the short URL points to). But people don't really take care to maintain short URLs anyway, apparently.

I don't see much point in trying to build software at a "higher level", like whole products and services. I'm going to go down low and train myself on the fundamentals. Hopefully in time I'll be able to contribute to the foundational bits. You're right, it does get exhausting. At some point you just want to rebuild everything, which is not possible.

NIH syndrome? I am guilty of it too. I love implementing things from scratch, you learn a lot by doing so and you get to own the codebase end-to-end, so no surprises and fighting around othersโ€™ choices. It can get exhausting too though, in the end I succumb to using off-the-shelf components because my primary goals move at a higher level.

Similar with having access to so much critically acclaimed media, but they are so emotionally or intellectually draining that I find myself rewatching ol' familiars. Availability seems just one aspect, and perhaps not even the most limiting factor. Maybe most people have a "limit" on number of "lives", as in number of times you fall in love, change, get inspired, connect, etc..

a business loan is not an investment, it is debt financing that pays back with interest. Our team uses containers to keep our development environment consistent across team members, though, and most agent sandbox approaches want to either offload your work fully to the cloud or they want to sandbox the agent harness process itself. ... because letting the agent run docker gives them a too-easy escape hatch from their sandbox. So we're currently stuck with using VMs. This turns out to be tricky but seems do-able. My current approach is to provision a VM image and use Incus for the execution. My main goal is to keep my current workflow of local/non-agent dev working seamlessly and share the source with the VM/agent.

This means sharing my working dirs with the agent VM but overlaying artifact dirs from VM-owned block devices so we don't take too big of an IO perf hit. I also don't want the agent to be able to git push so that means we need some quirky git config to rewrite origin paths and thread through some agent specific PATs ("thanks" GitHub) for read-only repo access. These ALSO need to be threaded through to the development containers - they need to clone private repos.

It's tangential to the sandboxing topic, really. I started the first post with a broader intent in mind and then elaborated on the sandboxing setup I'm working on. For AI-assisted coding, though, it's nice because Haskell provides a lot of feedback earlier in the development process compared to lots of other languages. It tends to work once it compiles (obviously not all the time).

I think you're doing the right thing. You also clearly have both business and product development skills that are almost impossible to find in the same person. I'd try to think of how to monetize some of these and consider YC.

personal projects probably just arent the right knob if you want to get unpoor. if you want my honest advice i would recommend not showing hallucinate to potential employers, its landing page looks one-shot claude and is gpu heavy. but the others look very nice.
